I think Wii Sports resort was missing because its a Blue Ocean game, and GDC is a developer and hardcore event. The mainstream press isn't there at all, so it's not a good place for your mainstream people games.

Why would Nintendo need to present Wii Sports Resort at all? We got a full on presentation last e3. Do you folks need a repeat presentation or something? Did any previously announced and shown game get any attention at GDC yet? Sin and Punishment 2? Excitebots? Punch Out Wii?
Maybe Nintendo didn't talk about it because there's simply nothing to talk about.
Wiiware, DSiware for the DSi launch but also the whole expensive economic disaster problems issue.
Spring summit eh? That would be awesome.
Maybe Ninty want their own show to generate maximum attention on their games, i disagree that they have no Wii games ready/almost finished. They were really just trying to demonstrate that handhelds are the big issue in this 1st half of the year.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
This is GDC, they rarely visit old stuff that were already press released, it's usually new stuff or tech talk or business talk.

Actually Wii Motion+ was showed. Check these pictures:
