Forums - Nintendo - Iwata's Keynote Speech

He said it at the end, They are still waiting for third parties to get off their ass

Of course that doesn't mean Nintendo shouldn't be announcing some Wii games

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Possible 32GB storage isn't a bomb? Who expected that? Sigh you people have too much expectation, go back, re read what got announced and then have some chocolate..

A solution to an overly simple problem that should have been dealt with at/before launch is a bomb?

I was hoping for a new core Wii announcement, either Zelda or otherwise.
We still have E3, but this is why I hate the hype and rumors before conferences.

Wasn't great, wasn't bad, either. Much better than their E3 2008 conference.

i wouldnt say much. first 40 minutes he praised miyamoto. and i dont do handhelds. only thing that leaves is ff1... which is on ds isnt it? or is it different

At least at this one  they showed some actual fun-looking games, though.  They didn't knock it out of the park, but come on--the storage solution people have been screaming for, WarioWare, a sequel to the most popular WiiWare game, classic arcade games on virtual console, AND a new Zelda game.  Cut them some slack--it wasn't what it could have been, but it was nowhere near that E3 disaster.

Btw, Iwata is now 3-for-3 in announcing Zeldas at GDCs he's keynoted

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Well Nintendo Play's us again.....*sigh*

It's GDC...I'm surprised they said this much. The absolute lack of Wii and motionplus talk means that they're most likely saving it for E3, which is just a mere 10 weeks away actually.

im happy for current wii owners for that but a few points ill make are 1. i was looking for more announcements on the sw stuff and 2. i was looking for unknown announcements. wasnt the storage solution acknowledged and confirmed to being worked on? your looking at it from a current wii owner which means it lappealed more to you to you.

This--they announced some pretty cool stuff (some of which fans have been clamoring for), and this really isn't even the place for big announcements.

he did announce a Zelda game even if it's for DS. When was a Zelda game ever announced at GDC?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
