I think the problem with review on this site is that they generally will tend to be biased. Someone who hates a game is not going to go out and buy it, in order to complete it and provide an objective review on this site (in general). Generally someone who reviews the game will be someone who finished the game, and liked it enough in order to take out half and hour of his or her life to write a review (though note that an absurdly negative reaction could easily trigger the same reaction). There is just very little incentive for someone to go out, buy a game he or she does not like, complete it and then review it. Thats why we probably won't be seeing any in depth reviews of Pets Paradise any time soon. And why reviews will generally be very positive, or possibly very negative.

It's impossible to review a game without subjectivity. If you claim that a real review should be based on pure objectivity every review score of a specific game out there should be the same (when every reviewer is entirely objective, their scores must not differ). That's the point: Having different opinions is a necessity. Nevertheless, the score isn't the main factor of the review, it's the written text about a game.

If you want tough reviews then read Machina's 20 or so, he is one tough british cookie....

Our review features are really bulking up and a lot of work has to go into our reviews. As time goes on that average review score will definitely drop.

You might want to tally up all the reviews first before you make a complaint like this. Right now on average our review scores are around 0.7% above average (metacritic) Oh, and the ratings you say are illogical aren't that far off base the average review and they have them as CT>FFIV>Revenant WIngs>DQ

Torrillian and Machina who have reviewed the most games are 2 of the harshest reviewers compared to metacritic.

you haven't even played the games, So complaining about the review scores being too high is just a bunch of crap by you because you "want" the review scores to be lower. How about whatever your favorite game is I want the review socre to be a 5. That seems real fair too.

not all reviews have a 7+, and the reviewers have to buy/rent their games, so there is a good chance they won't buy a crappy game.

I doubt that very much as I seem to enjoy most commonly known good games. Maybe it's just that I like new games and not rehashes. Even sequals of other games has less rehasing.

So tekken 6 isn't a rehash, while brawl and galaxy are? I fail to see any logic behind this.

isn't it a bit funny, that VGChartz is above metacritic after all the complains here, that nowadays the professional reviews are inflated?

Just about every review today is crap. It would be much better, if there would be more criticism. Reviewer with attitude of Yatzhee(Zero punction) and lots of criticism would be nice for a while. Even IGN is way too soft nowadays. I miss Nnirvi. He bitched about everything and was quite much right. :)

Well, heres some of his thoughts,

• The internet sucks. The websites, newsgroups and chat systems are filled with nothing but idiots. Back in the day, the net was so much better in every possible way.
• Foreign computer magazines suck. Their editors don't know anything about anything, and the gaming industry has them on a tight leash.
• The industry sucks. It produces "burger games" (Tomb Raider, Command & Conquer etc) because they're what people want to buy. And because of this, in a year or two no original games will be released and gaming will die.
