So you support the U.S. military's firing of Arabic translators for being homosexual?

More and more militaries around the world are allowing homosexuals in and discovering that they're very capable, stable, smart, and strong soldiers, even better than the unqualified criminals and dropouts the U.S. military currently prefers.

Yes, I do.  If you are trying to create an atmosphere in which US forces, SF in particular, in OIF and OEF-A and even OEF-P would be more acceptable to Muslims you have to adapt.  Sharia law forbids homosexuality and you are not going to go up to the tribal chieftain outside Waziristan with a bright smile and stating OMG you are Fabulous!!!  No, you have to either adapt to the sit on the field or get the hell out of the way.

You'd rather believe that the APA has declassified homosexuality as a mental illness for over 30 years as part of a political agenda to support gay rights at the expense of covering up the mental instability of millions of Americans?  I doubt that would even be possible.  If millions and millions of gays in America were ALL hormonally/chemically imbalanced, don't you think we'd know by now?

 Yes,

and it also would not be the first time a group of medical professionals have been forced to make changes for politcal reasons either. The American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities once was.

I would think the AIDS/Gay rights protestors and thier over the top antics would hint at other forms of mental illness also.

If you believe in nationwide gay conspiracy theories, how would gay people have taken over the APA, or what would the APA have gained from lying about science for decades to protect a vocal minority of supposedly mentally unstable people?

This was during a time when the federal government would fire any homosexual government employee because it considered them at risk for selling national security secrets to communists.  The logic was that any communist could kidnap any gay government employee and say "tell us all your secrets or we'll tell everybody you're gay" and that any gay person would choose to tell the secrets.  In fact, one of the people they fired this way (I forget his name, don't remember where my notes are) petitioned the APA for years to declassify homosexuality to prove he was normal.  But the APA didn't listen to him until UCLA did the study I mentioned earlier, and it was one of many studies at the time that showed that homosexuals and heterosexuals had similar amounts of mental illnesses.

No.  I am not one for too many conspiracy theories besides maybe a little Obama stuff here and there   I do think that there are a lot of homosexual people working in scientific areas as it requires a liberal way of thinking/education.  I would also like to think that the DoD was doing the right thing for that time period (Cold War) when any few sentences of intel spilled could start a nuclear WWIII.  Now do I think that they would do it today and get away with it?  Overtly, hell no.  Covertly, yes.

I'm talking about translators.  Who speak the language of the area we've been occupying.  They can actually translate enemy messages, which can save American lives.  Over 50 of them were fired before 9/11.  Maybe they could have helped us know what the enemy was up to?

And we don't have to follow Sharia law to invade and occupy a country that does.  We don't need to treat our gays the way they treat their gays, just to "look acceptable."  Should we treat our women the way they treat theirs?  I guess we shouldn't have female soldiers either.

I asked a how question, not a yes/no question.

No I don't think we should have female soldiers.  I would not want them to run around in burkas if that is what your asking.  The thing is this is not an occupation it is a liberation and recovery period.  Ask any soldier what they do over there and he/she will tell you that they sure as hell are not occupying anything.  The people even want us to stay, for example in Iraq, past our 2011 SOFA agreement.  The thing is we knew what the enemy was doing and we got blindsided on 9/11.

Rubang yes we do have to follow the laws of the country.  Look @ Iraq.  We are confined to the Iraqi laws outside of the Green Zone and even there sometimes.

This topic sickens me. There are too many ignorant people in this topic. ignorant people who believe that the sterotypes are true. ugh..... and that's not all either. >_

Probably not. But this topic sucks. I'm kinda sick and tired of being treated as a 2nd class citizen. Perhaps the future will be better?
