If you believe in nationwide gay conspiracy theories, how would gay people have taken over the APA, or what would the APA have gained from lying about science for decades to protect a vocal minority of supposedly mentally unstable people? This was during a time when the federal government would fire any homosexual government employee because it considered them at risk for selling national security secrets to communists. The logic was that any communist could kidnap any gay government employee and say "tell us all your secrets or we'll tell everybody you're gay" and that any gay person would choose to tell the secrets. In fact, one of the people they fired this way (I forget his name, don't remember where my notes are) petitioned the APA for years to declassify homosexuality to prove he was normal. But the APA didn't listen to him until UCLA did the study I mentioned earlier, and it was one of many studies at the time that showed that homosexuals and heterosexuals had similar amounts of mental illnesses. |
No. I am not one for too many conspiracy theories besides maybe a little Obama stuff here and there
I do think that there are a lot of homosexual people working in scientific areas as it requires a liberal way of thinking/education. I would also like to think that the DoD was doing the right thing for that time period (Cold War) when any few sentences of intel spilled could start a nuclear WWIII. Now do I think that they would do it today and get away with it? Overtly, hell no. Covertly, yes.
