MGS4 simplified ?
Sorry but you have no ideea what you are talking about. It is the most thematically and ideologicaly complex in the series, and almost mind bendingly intricate in its analysis and conclusions.
Also the fact that "you" didn't like the outcome and the involvement of some characters doesn't make the story and the overall achievement less amazing.

The undeniable fact is that MGS4 is the most critically acclaimed in the series since the first one, with more awards and nominations than any of the previous titles.

Yes, what of it? I play MGS to know what happens in the series, not to learn of something else. Sure, those themes and ideologies and whatever are a nice addition but they shouldn't replace the rest at this point. For a new game (and maybe even an existing series) it might work, however it would have to be done very well. This time it doesn't feel quite right however.

Also, I'm not criticizing the way things are told in MGS4 ("Also the fact that "you" didn't like the outcome and the involvement of some characters doesn't make the story and the overall achievement less amazing."), I'm criticizing what actually happened. So yes, ridiculous actions and such do make the overall achievement less amazing. [SPOILERS]Hypnosis, self-suggestion? Why change a working and well fitting solution to a worse one? It doesn't fit in. Nanomachines? Might work if they'd been mentioned even once before (and I'm not talking about the ones making the codec function). Vamp is an exception, he feels pretty ordinary after all once nanomachines are explained. Big Boss? Not necessarily a terrible idea but most seem to agree he would have been better kept dead. And personally I hate how an all-mighty organization like the Patriots suddenly becomes a quick way to power.[/SPOILERS]

A word on simplification, too. Of course it's been simplified if everything's explained so that everyone understands them the first time and no question are left unanswered. Naturally too complex plots are a bad thing but this is too simple for the series. Who cares if there's something complex behind everything if it doesn't affect the game's story? And isn't it generally a basic rule that some questions should be left unanswered? At least that's what I've been hearing pretty often and makes sense too.

And finally, on a forum I've been using, there seem to be lots of people dissatisfied with MGS4 compared to the previous games. It's not necessarily the story (alone, at least) but the game as a whole.

why do xbox owners build themselves up so much, have you heard of the game called rage? where they have to limit the game compressed onto two discs because the developers cant afford the royalties of a third disc to microsoft ,yeah ok lost odessey had 4 discs but it was part published by microsoft so they dont have to pay themselves royalties , metal gear solid 4 would take 3-4 discs at least, they would have to change dialogue in a lot of the scenes where blu-ray and sixasis is mentioned ,and Sixasis is importantly used ,people who played it will know what i mean , and metal gear solid 5 will only have improved graphics, so to think its going to be on the 360 is kinda crazy and wish full thinking, you've got more chance of getting shit out of a rocking horse

yeah but why sony didnt moneyhat the FF or Tekken exclusivity?this are with MGS the biggest PS games...and now they lost 2 of these great games exclusivity!everybody thought that Tekken was like the Mario for Nintendo but 3 seconds later Tekken 6 will be released also for the xbox!

I think MGS series is pretty much the best selling hardcore/niche series in the industry.

Wii exclusive.

why would it go multi plat? the 360 has hardly any MGS fans. It would be a complete waste.

Actually it does seem to have some MGS fans, just because the PS3 is still pretty expensive. And wait and see if they announce an MGS game for the 360... I'm sure we'll have plenty of MGS fans on the 360 then. Hey, now it's an interactive movie, with a 360 version it's a good interactive movie.

Anyway, my point is that there are and will be even more fans if an announcement is made.

@Mr.Y ur kidding ryt??!!

MGS series would not sell well on an XBox console. Kojima experimented by releasing MGS 2 to XBox and it crashed and burned in regards to sales.

It is likely to remain PS3 exclusive because this series would not sell well on Xbox 360.
