MGS4 simplified ?
Sorry but you have no ideea what you are talking about. It is the most thematically and ideologicaly complex in the series, and almost mind bendingly intricate in its analysis and conclusions.
Also the fact that "you" didn't like the outcome and the involvement of some characters doesn't make the story and the overall achievement less amazing.

The undeniable fact is that MGS4 is the most critically acclaimed in the series since the first one, with more awards and nominations than any of the previous titles.

Yes, what of it? I play MGS to know what happens in the series, not to learn of something else. Sure, those themes and ideologies and whatever are a nice addition but they shouldn't replace the rest at this point. For a new game (and maybe even an existing series) it might work, however it would have to be done very well. This time it doesn't feel quite right however.

Also, I'm not criticizing the way things are told in MGS4 ("Also the fact that "you" didn't like the outcome and the involvement of some characters doesn't make the story and the overall achievement less amazing."), I'm criticizing what actually happened. So yes, ridiculous actions and such do make the overall achievement less amazing. [SPOILERS]Hypnosis, self-suggestion? Why change a working and well fitting solution to a worse one? It doesn't fit in. Nanomachines? Might work if they'd been mentioned even once before (and I'm not talking about the ones making the codec function). Vamp is an exception, he feels pretty ordinary after all once nanomachines are explained. Big Boss? Not necessarily a terrible idea but most seem to agree he would have been better kept dead. And personally I hate how an all-mighty organization like the Patriots suddenly becomes a quick way to power.[/SPOILERS]

A word on simplification, too. Of course it's been simplified if everything's explained so that everyone understands them the first time and no question are left unanswered. Naturally too complex plots are a bad thing but this is too simple for the series. Who cares if there's something complex behind everything if it doesn't affect the game's story? And isn't it generally a basic rule that some questions should be left unanswered? At least that's what I've been hearing pretty often and makes sense too.

And finally, on a forum I've been using, there seem to be lots of people dissatisfied with MGS4 compared to the previous games. It's not necessarily the story (alone, at least) but the game as a whole.
