Forums - Sony - The next Metal Gear to be exclusive?

okay,

metal gear 4: 3.89M
metal gear 3: 4.02 M

What is obvious from these numbers is that the metal gear did not lose any of it's core fanbase by remaining a ps3 exclusive. so let me list the reasons remaining ps3 exclusive in the future is not a bad idea.

1. sales of mgs4 proves (regardless of the overall install base) that your fanbase already has access to your title.

2. metal gear isn't the type of game that appeals to an expanded/new audience. nobody read the 7th harry potter book without reading the first 6 and no one is going to play the 5th metal gear without playing the first 4.

3. metal gear is a cinematic heavy. yeah sure, you can do multiple discs on the 360 but production cost rise when you use 3,4, maybe even 5 discs.

4. sony heavily promotes the title. going multiplat means losing all that free advertising sony will give the title as an exclusive. and everything i've read suggest the advertising cost can be just as costly as development costs.

That sounds like a good wish rather than solid arguments.

1. Knowing that X360 and PS3 owners are the same kind of gamers it is obvious that if Konami decides to release the next MGS on both consoles it will sell a lot more.

2. If we are following your logic here then nobody who havent played SMB on the NES would buy Super Mario Galaxy or people who havent played Final Fantasy 1 won't buy FFXIII.

3. I partially agree with you on that point but the multi-discs still remain a good option if not then a downgraded version could also do very well.

4. Free advertising is a very little consolation comparing the millions sales lost by making it an exclusive.

Comparing SMB and FF to MG is not valid. You have taken two independent story games and compared them to a saga. Using Halo would work or any other saga. But one thing I can tell you is that people who played part 4 without playing the rest of them had absolutely no idea what was going on and will probably not get part 5. Kojima doesn't like Microsoft. It could be multiconsole if Konami tells him to, but I don't think they will do that. Their current gen PS3 exclusive has sold better than most of their muliconsole games anyway. I think if Kojima says exclusive, it will be. Without him, Konami would most likely be for sale.

People don't buy a game for the story/movie but for the gameplay. As for Kojima and his loyalty to the playstation brand this is pure BS. Do I have to remind you that he wanted Snake to appear in SSBB and that he personaly worked on that game? BTW he confirmed that he won't be part of the next MGS so I guess he doesnt have anything to do in this discussion.

No chance in hell. PS3 won't receive big 3rd party exclusive anymore. The next MGS game will probably be multiplatform (PS3-X360-Wii) like Call of Duty WoW.

For PS3? Yes

For 360? Maybe

For Wii? Definitively 100%

-It will not be on Wii. The entire game would have to be redesigned, the graphics would become worse, and you'd end up with a crappy port like Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop.

Duh, that is why it'll be a Wii exclusive. Built from the ground up.

Or Kajima studio can just use their pre-existing MGS4 engine, touch up the engine a little, and then release a game when done.

After all they have spent allot of time and money making that engine, so it's a waste to not use it again, for at least 1 more game...plus they should be very familiar with the PS3 hardware now.

Infact I see MGS4 subsistence, or what ever they'll call it coming out soon enough, they've done so with their previous 2 games.

Also, I think for them as a company making a Wii title would be to risky, at least they know that if they play it safe and release it on the PS3, their garenteed huge sales.

I know allot of people would shot down this point, and say it's less risky because on the wii development is cheaper, but if they spend money to make a top notch engine, and try to make a AAA game, but then see it fail in sales like so many other AAA games on the wii which aren't Nintendo titles, then this is were the risk lies for them....if anything I'd see them play it safe with the main franchise, while testing the waters with another game, it's the most resonable thing todo.

As for the 360, it's a possibility, I suppose they just have time to work around the 360 own limitations, just as they did with the PS3.

I'm positive it will be a PS360 game. I can't imagine them making another exclusive, unless Sony pays Konami big time.

Given Kojima has more pull at konami now, theres no chance in hell he will water down his beloved franchise to make it work on inferior hardware.

4 million sold and launched on 10 millin user base, no need for going multi.

If Kojima gave a shit about that he'd be making MGS for the PC.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

But but.. what about his artistic vision!? :( You make it sound like they're just in it for the munies.

Also: please do tell what these failing AAAA Wii games are?

And No More Heroes 2 will be a PS3 exclusive?

Well, No More Heroes 2 has already been announced for the Wii, but maybe it'll go multiplatform?

He won't for the same reason he didn't do part 3. No analog. Don't ask me why he doesn't just add different controller supports, that's just what he said. I don't thinks he wants to design controls for a keyboard.

I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.

Let's hope it wont be exclusive anymore. I still remember playing mgs on my pc. One of the best games ever.

Its going to remain exclusive to the ps3 , that's IF they make another, finally xbox fans have dropped saying metal gear solid 4 is coming to 360 but have sadly all turned towards MGS5
