holy shit they're just gonna spend it on more food. They should get LESS money so they starve and lose weight, then they can work and stop leeching off the taxpayers.

The way it's run yeah. There is no benefit to living a healthy life. It's a major problem with US healthcare too but that's managed by offering either rewards or penalties to people for how they live their livse. Such a thing would be unthinkable in the UK.

The UK works around this with a tightly knit community programme, something I imagine you don't get with commercial hospitals. They have obligations to be active within the community set by the government, kind of like the BBC have obligations to satisfy certain audiences. They offer free sex ed and other medical education services for young people and schools, free mother and baby clinics and so on and so forth. It's a good system.

its called equality

Equality is letting people be self destructive and being forced to pay the consequences when they make poor choices?
So that i can screw up my life however badly I want and you have to pick up the dime for me?
That doesn't sound like equality.
It sounds like exploiting of the people who give a damn by people who don't.

None of that addresses the Obesity problem. Which is a huge problem. Some UK doctors have suggested not offering the same services to the obese because of the huge deficit their care causes. They were of course shot down.

you do know some people overeat due to mental problems? like depression? under your system they would die, so you would be indirectly responsible for there deaths, healthcare is a right of all humans, to deny it of anyone for any reason is allways wrong

im glad they were shot down, who are you to judge who does and does not deserve healthcare? its a basic HUMAN right, since when did obese people stop being human?

Stop being human never.
We're talking about people who intentionally cause healthcare problems.
So it's your opinion that anyone can mistreat their bodies and should still get treated the same as everyone else?
That people should be abel to be as irresponsible as they want and get paid for it?
That anyone who wants to can get really fat and get paid for it along with getting treatment for their own bad and explotive choice?

How would they die? They wouldn't they would instead have to go to government rehabilitation to take care of their problems. If they're depressed be put on medication etc.
Obesity is a disease... a volentary disease but a disease none the less. People who have it should be diagnosed and treated.
THey should not be allowed to get fat and force everyone else to pay for their own very fixable disability.
If they refuse to have it cured. Why should the state bear the responsibility of people choosing to have health problems.
People who are overweight will be given the means and power to lose it.... and only those diagnosed with gentics should be given money for a disability which is treatable.
I mean it would be like saying someone who chooses to be blind deserves handouts.

perhaps we should stop treating anyone who goes outside aswell, they choose to do so, knowing full well that going outside carries countless risks, you can get hit by a car, catch all sorts of illnesses
what people do with there bodys is there choice, i think we should have a more progressive education system that tells them all the risks but if they still make mistakes, they still deserve there basic rights.
