Well that is one of the larger problems the UK and first world countries with socialized healthcare are dealing with as well.

Think how much more their healthcare will cost.

these comments are so insulting to the millions of people kept alive by the NHS that i really do feel rage towards you kasz, healthcare is a basic human right, it is not some commodity to be given only to the rich.

So free healthcare is one of the bigger problems in the UK???

ugh lazy slobs

Thats not much different from welfare moms who work their lives around milking the state for as much as possible.

Not to say there aren't welfare moms who deserve the help, its just that some do it intentionally. Theres no way to filter out the leaches without hurting the people who deserve the help.

One, they are not THAT big.

Two, epilepsy is caused by being overweight? That's news to me.

Three, people with genetic causes of obesity are absolutely dwarfed in number by people who simply don't eat and exercise properly and this is supported by the rapidly rising rates of obesity. Genes don't change that fast. So, while it's possible they have a genetic cause for their obesity it is very unlikely.

That's enough for now.

The way it's run yeah.  There is no benefit to living a healthy life.

It's a major problem with US healthcare too but that's managed by offering either rewards or penalties to people for how they live their livse.  Such a thing would be unthinkable in the UK.

I'm surprised this story is from the telegraph to be honest...

They are trim enough to work to be honest, I know fatter people that work. In fact if they worked perhaps their energy would be higher so they want to work and maybe they would then lose weight.

its called equality

How about... an apple for breakfast, a few slices of meat and some cucumber for lunch, a glass of milk as an afternoon snack, and some fish with broccoli and a sweet potato for dinner? Wash it down with a multivitamin. If they are still fat, eat less fish, 1/2 of a sweet potato, smaller apple, ect.
If they walked around for slowly for an hour or two a day and ate very little, they would eventually get thin.
