all depends on price

skeeuk - the reason theyd shrink the casing would be to lower cost for materials. less plastic equals less money

well to make the consoles look uniformal they may aswell keep the size.

what they could do is move to lower grade plastic etc mabey with matt finish instead of shiney. other tweaks..........

  • standard ejecting disk drive
  • press buttons instead of touch
  • take away needless lights
  • external psu
  • take away extra ports from the back
  • removal of on-off switch on the back.
  • no wifi

ie. have a basic entry model and keep a premium model as it is today, but with b/c reinstataed.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

If there IS SLIM PS3 and is 100 bucks cheaper, then there is no doubt it will sell very well. People DO look at the size of consoles when they decide to buy. Nintendo keeps making theirs smaller every time.

If the SLIM PS3 looks good and is cheaper than the current one (which would seem logical) then I don't see a reason why it wouldn't sell well.

It only works for the handhelds.

wi-fi is needed max king of the wild and must never be taken out.
Why do u think the 20GB model (the only wi-filess one) got phased out!

i dont think there are needless lights and some people dont want their consoles on standby all the time and the back button is theonly way off turning it off if the ps3 freezes. the standard disc eject and wifi are good ones though. (normal eject button would probablly be included with different disc loader) if they did that they could compete with the 360s price. id reccomend just changing the case too if they were going to save money on the finishing. why not pay less and get more with a base model.

because it was making more losses than the 60gig and less people were willing to pay 100 dollars less for a dumbed down version. now without wifi itd be making more profit and im sure more people would be interested. think about it.

Yea, I'm not really sure what needless lights there are.... Everything that lights up has a purpose, it's not like a PC case mod or just having LED's on all the fans.

Power/stand-by light, blu-ray disk drive light, hard drive indicator, and the ethernet port are important and have a purpose.

would make massive difference although they dont need to actually go slim it could be the same size outer case with lesser iniards.

i know they are going 45mm later this year so i can deffo see a cheap entry level machine coming soon, alongside a premium priced console.

what ever happens sony must not drop the price of ps3 untill it manufacures a console to let it do so.

it will loose market share but thats the way it goes sometimes, there beaten on price hands down. so for the time being they should just concentrate on bringing out great games for everyone to play. and work on cheaper manufacturing costs in the background.

But don't you think a new look for the PS3 would be refreshing. This big 11 pound beast they have now has gone through so much with the media, coming out with a Slim PS3 and offering something that looks different to the consumers would be like a new beginning for the PS3 (it'd be cheaper to make, they'd probably drop the price, Sony might finally be making money off the PS3 and the Japanese would love it).
