The first Mass Effect 2 plot details have emerged after BioWare's horribly vague teaser trailer last month. Spoilers follow...
According to rather revealing product listing on Amazon, the second chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy "takes you to the darkest reaches of space, where you must uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of humans across many worlds.
"Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind. Travel the galaxy to assemble a team of soldiers and combat specialists, and launch an all-out assault on the heart of enemy territory."
Sounds like you're hunting Geth - and probably ancient robot Reapers - then.
Skimming further down the Amazon bullet point list reveals a "refined dialogue system", "numerous improvements to the intense, third-person shooter combat" and more Jack Bauer moments: "Success - or failure - depends heavily on the crew you assemble and their loyalty to you and the mission," apparently.
Most spoiler-efic of all is confirmation that the second act "continues the story of Commander Shepard and humanity's first steps onto the galactic stage." Shepard's not dead then, as the teaser would have us believe.
Mass Effect 2 is confirmed for Xbox 360 and PC early next year. We can't wait. Read the review of the original game here.
Thanks, Kotaku.
