it's not illegal anymore to show those things anymore in Japan, but many people in Japan actually prefer to have it censored, don't ask me why. I have asked about it before and I was just told that they would rather imagine.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Not entirely true. It's not allowed to be shown for "export" only, meaning if the content is intended for markets other than Japan, those nice anatomical parts will be pixelated or otherwise covered up.

The same content for the domestic (Japanese) market will show all.
