It's games are but not the console.

Agree. But even DS games are overpriced ($40 WTF?)

@Procastinato

Why would the Wii slow down when it's already up YoY...? In Japan it's slowed down but that's it.

I can't put my finger on it.  Its not up as much as the 360, YoY, as a %.  It smells like a downturn?  I dunno.  Its just a feeling, from watching the weekly numbers roll by, and seeing the "supply meets demand" comments from retailers, as well as seeing piles of them not moving from local stores (or perhaps they are resupplying them really well).

Its like reaching the top of an awesome climb... you can finally see the other side.  It was a great ascent... and now you have to enjoy the view.

Are you serious? The Wii just broke the February record according to NPD, yet you have a feeling it's already dying?

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

I didn't say I felt it was dying.  I feel like its losing overall momentum.  Big difference.

oops must have accidentaly pressed the post button sorry about that...

What i was gonna say is that this guy is full of himself questioning the wiis hardware No i dont think the wiis overpriced plus they can't afford heavy losses commpared to sony or MS or they could have been in the red, thats why they announced the price increase in the UK. They didnt do it cause they're greedy, its business.

it's actually more expansive to release DS games because of the nature of it's media, but it has a lower dev cost so it depends on the developer and the cartridge size and nintendo's cut totaled together in the game to finalize the price for a DS game /shrug.

You guys do make pretty good opinions. It does sell like crazy but I guess it does this by finding a pretty broad audience like families and its in/around everyone's budget with a tough economy.

But comparing it with other consoles like the 360 at a cheaper value, I still think its expensive for a system that doesn't play DVD's/HD video/Quality online service. But if you get a rebuffed Hard Drive for $20 and an HD/AV cable cheap for the 360, then both the prices will be around the same price and the 360 would still offer a lot more.

I own both systems, so please no fanboy wars. i just want a valid opinion if the Wii is overpriced.

The only thing I agree with in this article, is that the Wii costs near $250 anymore.

With the PS3 and 360 slashing manufacturing prices left and right, I find it hard to believe Nintendo's hardware within the Wii hasn't dropped in price over 3 years. The pieces must be much cheaper by now.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

@Lit09:

Well, I say it is because I'd like to get it, but I don't want to pay that price.

Considering inflation, the Wii was not overpriced at its release.

It is now, however. Its sales will continue to slow until they knock it down to $199.99 -- and that won't happen until the dollar gets stronger, relative to the yen, again.

The buyers willing to purchase it, at the release price, are beginning to wear thin.

Wait, "continue to slow"?

I'll give you Japan, but I don't think that's the case everywhere else. It certainly isn't the case in the U.S., where it's had the strongest monthly sales in all but three months since its release (launch month, the next month, and Halo 3's release) despite being heavily supply-constrained, yet its nonetheless continued to post impressive YoY increases.

Am I just misunderstanding you?

he probably means slowing down, but even in Japan, it's actually still pretty steady, while other consoles have ups and downs, Wii is like a sail boat with stable wind, moving steadily and with good speed.

It appears that's what he's saying, but even then the data don't support that conclusion. I included the YoY part to show that sales are going up, not down, even relative to how they were in the previous (record) years.

I realize he admits it's more of a "feeling" than anything, but I'm not sure where the feeling comes from. Japan, perhaps? I dunno. I guess it doesn't really matter much.

Compared to an Xbox 360 Arcade model which is Hi-Def without the HDD, then yes, yes it is In my opinion anyway...
