I hope this game has an overworld... that was the only thing that was seriously lacking in ToSDoTNW

I was once looking forward to this but the game AND box art looks generic and boring.
I think review scores will be 6 and 7's
I feel a Tales vibre from the boxart, but is very good for my most anticipated Wii game.

It does. Too bad they haven't released many vids of it though...only a few. It's mostly battles we've seen, hope we see some overworld/travelling... |
Overworlds are overrated.
For the most part all they usually do is:
A) Increase the time between getting from point A to point B.
B) Feature random battles which serve to annoy the player.
You might get some exploring out of the deal but for the most part you go from point A to point B (especially early on in RPGs before you have the super vehicles that let you go everywhere).
I'm much more impressed by a game that can offer me 40 hours of gameplay with no overworld than a game that can offer me 40 hours of gameplay with one because it means I'm actually doing interesting things for most of that as opposed to spending hours watching my character go from A to B while fighting random encounters.

I think you can avoid enemies just like Tales in this one though, ToS2 still had about 30-35 hours without a world map but think of the new things and little tricks they could have added with it =/ I'm on my 3rd run with that game so I've obviously spent a lot of time with it already though, need my tech 3 stuff and blow the crap out of galdsheim this time around. You'd also probably like Rune Factory Frontier, god that game is the biggest time sink and the dungeons are not that easy haha.

I don't see the problem, the world map is not the most wanted thing in games like this.
If the gameplay takes it long for the player, i think it's good, because mean to be experienced with that genre.
Not a Casual game so, good.

Hmm...then please tell me you own the Baten Kaitos games (or at least have heard of them)? Those games are awesome (Origins moreso though) that barely have an overworld (it takes like 5 seconds to get from one city or dungeon to one city or dungeon. Sometimes less.) And they're 60 hours+ (Origins took me 80 hours+ to beat it though) |
I played Origins like a year and a half ago. Interesting gameplay though I would have enjoyed it more had I liked more than 1 character.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
