Overworlds are overrated. For the most part all they usually do is: A) Increase the time between getting from point A to point B. You might get some exploring out of the deal but for the most part you go from point A to point B (especially early on in RPGs before you have the super vehicles that let you go everywhere). I'm much more impressed by a game that can offer me 40 hours of gameplay with no overworld than a game that can offer me 40 hours of gameplay with one because it means I'm actually doing interesting things for most of that as opposed to spending hours watching my character go from A to B while fighting random encounters. |
I think you can avoid enemies just like Tales in this one though, ToS2 still had about 30-35 hours without a world map but think of the new things and little tricks they could have added with it =/ I'm on my 3rd run with that game so I've obviously spent a lot of time with it already though, need my tech 3 stuff and blow the crap out of galdsheim this time around. You'd also probably like Rune Factory Frontier, god that game is the biggest time sink and the dungeons are not that easy haha.
