@BladeOfGod: What if we start with what brand is. Brand started with industrialising, when the companies that made the industrial product put the companys name in the product to get the people to trust into the product, since industrial products weren't seen as quality products, opposed to handmade products.

What the brand actually is, is the name that the product(s) is sold with. All the companies are very interested in their companies brands. Nokia, Micro$oft, Sony, Samsung, Toyota, Nintendo, Kawasaki, Deutche Bank, ABB, KCI, Unilever, GE, Chrysler, Coca-Cola, Philips etc.

What if someone thinks all Sony products are shit? Or some other guy thinks all Sony products are great? It can't happen unless "Sony" is a brand.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

^very good point

Any more an company that produces tangible goods is a brand

LOL, you spelled Deutche Bank wrong. Its ''Deutsche Bank'' not ''Deutche bank''

OK, lets say Nintendo is a brand, you still cant compare it with PlayStation. Its much older and it has more products. What you can do, is to compare Nintendo's last 4 products and PlayStation's last 4 products, and PlayStation obviously wins. Nintendo is more popular THIS gen, but when it comes to OVERALL. PlayStation stays the strongest.

Take a look at italian soccer/football league for a example. We all know FC Inter is stronger THIS season, but when it comes to OVERALL, FC Juventus still stays the strongest and most succesfull club in Italy.

Now let this theard rest in peace

Yeah, let's just ignore facts. Let's try and be "fair", which really means narrowing things down so that they're favourable to the Playstation brand.

If you want an answer to the question "which is the biggest brand in gaming", you don't start cutting out successful products to make things "fair".

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

There is no "overall". Brand strength is a snapshot of the current power of a brand, not a statement about historical values. Nintendo's brands are a lot stronger and more valuable than Sony's right now, in games. That's all there is.

BladeOfGod uses Wikipedia as proof, the opinion is void

Ok, GBA+GB(GBC uncluded)+DS= 300 million units sold.

These were 4 most succesful nintendo products, and they still cant beat PlayStation's 4 consoles.

You keep trying to tip the statistics in your favor to win an argument. The market grows, and the PlayStation consoles are at a later part in gaming.

You're still trying the old "fairness". Brand power is not a function of the number of products with that brand.
