Yes. But my parents' laptop sucks due to the unholy trinity of Pentium 4, Windows XP and slow antivirus software. I offered to replace the hardware (they declined), and I installed Ubuntu on it, but they refuse to use it.

A while back I tried to help out one of my friends whose computer (a pos) was competely messed but and he didn't own any version of windows to reformat with. I helped him out by formatting his computer, and getting him started with ubuntu. I even bookmarked the ubuntu forums and went over some stuff with him (how to connect his digital camera, got msn, etc) for him but to no avail. He hated that operating system with a passion, enough to buy another computer just so he didnt have to use it. It was ubuntu 7 i believe, and it definately wasn't easy enough for him to use, though I suspect he wanted it to be just like windows and didn't want to learn anything about linux. Maybe ubuntu is better now, but i'd be pretty hesitant to recommend it again for someone who is mostly computer illiterate.

(sorry for the off topic post)

It's a lot better than my old one. But, how fast can it be with dial up.

No way. I cry every night (not really but still).
Its around 7 years old and only changed few things couple of times.
single core 3ghz, 768 ram and geforce fx 5700.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

Mostly, I got it last year (a laptop) and it does struggle to run games smoothly, even though it was expensive. My main problem now is that my battery life has disappeared, now only 15 minutes when it was 2:30, it does run Empire Total War (apart from the game breaking bugs)

I was happy with my PC 4 years ago. Every year since, my happy meter has really plunged.

It's really time for me to upgrade my desktop since my laptop is for school only, but...I spend too much on games.

Oh well. I would prefer spending a grand on games and consoles over time than a grand on a new rig with no games included in that cost, plus the sticker shock.

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

Currenly $0.00... I need a BIIIIIIIIIGGER SCREEN.

If you asked me a year ago that would have been a totally different story though...

You cry for that? What a whimp! Mine is much worse and I cope with it! 1.1Ghz single core, 768 ram and ATi Radeon 9250. :/

But with that said, while I wish I had something much more powerful, at least it's better than nothing. I can play fable, sims 2 (nearly all eps) and some emulators... Not too bad for being an antique (in terms of pc life). XD

I'll be playing on a quad core soon enough... >:3

my PC is great! its how im able to use VGChartz! im on my PC right now! my PC also has lots and lots of games on it!

I am, I got an awesome deal on ebay and I basically bought a $600 computer for $300!

It'd be nice if it was a little faster but hell this is awesome compared to my last computer
