Forums - Gaming - Game release's

These game releases are all gathered from IGN, games that come out with more then one version are counted for each one, so games like halo would be counted for each type released( normal, legendary) and so forth for each console. This list in no way represents the entire game collection that is coming out for each system either, games are added or pushed back all the time.

PS3 2007: 60 - PS3 2008: 139 - PS3 2009: 10

360 2007: 79 - 360 2008: 168 - 360 2009: 10

Wii 2007: 110 - Wii 2008: 71 - Wii 2009: 3

PS2 2007: 92 - PS2 2008: 53 - PS2 2009: 1

The major increse for wii this year appears to be PS2 ports and cheap games made to cash in. While the game lists between PS3/360 look very much the same. The 2007 list is gathered for september onwards.

I would expect the wii to go the way of the PS1/PS2 for games this generation, with hordes of games coming out and only a select few that are worthy of buying.

 Indeed.

Weird how there are so many more games for the Wii this year, but less for next year.

Is the backlog of games that started production before the winner was clear so long?

Are most Wii games quick cash-ins that only a few months to make?

What's going on here?

Nintendo has always held off talking about next years games before all of this years games are released. As for the third parties... They have announced projects but haven't attached names to them yet. I wouldn't worry too much about this. You also have to remember a lot of the PS3 games sadly got delayed. If you remember the Wii list back in fall of 2006 for 2007... there was maybe like 20 games on it at the most.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Most Wii games are cashins at the moment next year will see better games for the Wii.The Wii will get all the games this gen like the PS1 and PS2 before but with all the games comes alot of crap titles you think all 3000 PS2 titles were good many of them werent even reviewed alot of them are sports updates every year and less than 500 are worth buying all the others are either 1.cashins 2.Sports updates 3.multiplatforms. Luckily for me all the games i want so far are on PS3 so no need for a second console.....yet.The 08 lineups havent even been properly announced and 09 well thats two far off to dream about by then we might have flying cars and FFXIII.

This is fairly common practice for Nintendo consoles. The following years efforts are always kept to a lower profile.

DS does the same with ~140 titles before the end of the year but only 60-70 listed for 2008.

Do you guys honestly think that we know what games are coming out next year?  Do you really think that all game makers have unveiled every title we will see next year?  For certain Nintendo has not announced a Christmas or Holiday lineup, and trust me, there will be one.  Most companies are attempting to keep this holiday as high profile as possible and will be announcing next years megatitles at GDC and E3 of 08.

I think it'll take until about 2009 before decent/good third party games on the Wii are more than just few and far between. Both Microsoft and Sony need to have at least $100 price cuts (if not $150) in order to take advantage of their stronger third party lineups and to keep things from turning into a repeat of the PS2/Xbox/GC (in terms of marketshare). If they don't start moving their consoles in significant quantities next year they'll each end up doomed to ~15% marketshares.

Well i would put money on Sony lowering the price of the 80GB to $499 this year when all the 60GB go out of stock and then next year they drop the price to $399 to coinside with MGS4/Killzone2/GT5/LBP etc.I would be surprised if Sony ended up last this gen from Hero to Zero is a serious drop and not even SEGA fell that fast they fell quite slowly.MS will never see 1st place again this gen and Nintendo had better not get drunk on success after a decade because when they do they will lose when they take their eye off the ball.
