Their actions have caused Japanese gamers to be alienated, and stunted the growth of the Playstation 3 in Japan. This confusion has caused a lot of Japanese gamers to either remain with their PS2 or upgrade to the Wii. Because of this, what could have been a viable platform (the Playstation 3) is no longer a viable platform.

Whoever wrote this is pretty clueless if they think this is the reason that the Wii is selling so well.

That wasn't my intention at all. I was simply stating what the gamers Japan were doing. Ofcourse that isn't the sole reason why people are buying the Wii. Its obviously the DS/PS2 audience that is buying into the Wii.

So when you said that gamers were confused into buying the Wii, and that this killed the viability of the Playstation 3, you didn't mean that?

Is what I wrote. Please don't put words in my mouth. I was merely suggesting where the potential PS3 userbase was going, not where the entirety of the Wii userbase consisted of.

There's a difference.

If that's the case why didn't they buy the system with... you know.  Like all the JRPGS.

Why didn't the japanese buy the 360 if JRPGs were so powerful?

I don't disagree that PS360 would have been better for the Japanese sales and probably even Western sales. However Japanese devs are not very much used to multiplatform development.

Other than that the article sounds like complaint #100 about how the PS3 doesn't have JRPGs and how it's their own fault that their sales are down by ignoring the PS3.

The PS3 fanboy aspect of this article becomes even clearer because it complete ignores Wii as a platform, while everything the aurthor writes could also be, even more, applied to Wii. But by the time Wii and PS3 launched most devs had already gone with 360.

I ignored the DS and PSP as well. Thats because this article was about HD gaming. Plus putting the games on the Wii would mean some gameplay changes for the games.

This particular article is talking about an alternative that the developers chose to ignore. An alternative where the game would've remained relatively the same.

And yes, in a way, this is a complaint about developers ignoring the PS3 to its own detriment in favour of an Xbox 360 exclusive.

No Offence but Benga you should be the last person to accuse them of being a fanboy and complain about PS3 has no RPG's 100 as you seem to disregard the fact that the Wii has little to no games to keep its crowd Happy as said per the Satisfaction rating.

Geez I dont even know why you like the Wii its a console for nothing but Shovelware and Nintendo does nothing but Re-use the same franchises over and over again

Wii=Crap

What the hell? What you said made no sense or was even in any relation to the topic?

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

No it doesn't. Not all Wii games require waggle (esp not JRPGs).

A Wii game without a waggle is basicly a Gamcube game.

Hopefully when the Xiii demo or the full Xiii hits, square will realise the errors of their ways... and turn back to the Playstation side ! :p

Uh...no,

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of putting it on the Wii. Might as well put it on the PS2 if you're not going to play to the platforms strengths. Not to mention that not everyone has a classic controller and controlling a game normally using the Wii mote is not comfortable at all.
