Forums - Sales - Microsoft's Multi-Platform Sales Trend Majorly Declining

Why do 360 fans want to go NA only as if the rest of the world doesn't matter?  More video game revenue comes from outside of NA then from inside NA.  With the Euro and Yen worth more relative to the dollar a sale in either other region is like 1.3 or 1.4 sales in NA.

The Op is clearly in response to these two articles (here and here); where various Microsoft sources have lauded the high software sales on the 360 based on NPD data.

To fight this, the clearly pro-Sony article brings in European data to refute the claims in those articles...way to change the parameters to fit your argument...yet another sterling example of fair and unbiased reporting.

So, basically for the sake of refuting Microsofts claims in the articles above, the rest of the world does not matter, as those claims were based on American data only.  NO one is saying the rest of the world doesn't matter in the larger picture... please.

Finally, this idea that MS said Final Fantasy XIII would sell more on the 360 is complete bunk.  AT worst, Greenberg insinuates it will in North America (what the entire article is talking about), nowhere does he say, it is going to sell more world wide.

And no one brings up one of the most important factor

PS3 has NO PIRACY!

360 has the EASIEST PIRACy since PSone. The flash of a 360 drive is something you can do home without soldering.

Donät know about US but in PAL countries some EU states donät have laws againts modding, like in Sweden, and the anti-Piracy laws are week.

360 loses grounds in sales when you can easily just download games and burn it on a 2 dollar disc. Works online also in most cases.

Predictions for 2009:

360: 39-42 PS3: 31-34 Wii: 67-70

Future projection

Wii will hit 100 million before christmas 2010 (made december 2008)

NDS Family will have sold and shipped more then PS2 at the end of 2009 (made january 2009)

Article is complete and utter BS.

Because the amount the game sells on both platforms is almost entierely down to the TYPE OF GAME, LEGACY, PERCEIVED HOME BRAND.

RE5 for example...

There's been more games that are more appealing to PS3 owners. That's all there is too it. Give it a few months and it could easily trend in the other direction.

I hope this post isn't considered trolling, I strongly believe that the article is nothing but sensationalistic crap.

Article is complete and utter BS. But it does bring up some good points that need to be brought up on VGC as they maybe using them for some sourcing.

How in the hell does VGC have Madden at 1.55 million. Where in the world would Madden PS3 had done that? Per NPD the very best number one could come up at the very top end of known data is 801k and that is at the end of Sept. It did not chart in the top 20 since then. Even if you were to say it was the 21st title for all of the rest of 2008 you still couldn't come up with that number or close to it and Madden doesn't sale anywhere else at all. You can't tell me it's done nearly double it's original showing when it hasn't charted in the top 20 since September.

This baffles me as to why the PS3/Wii aren't receiving more support, especially the PS3.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Sigh, this article is either a great example of biased stats or rampant cluelessness. The author's entire thesis is flawed. The graph is meaningless without correcting for install base. Further improvements would involve correcting for legacy platform, geography and genre of individual titles.

piracy means that more people buy xbox360's than ps3s in the third world. so your logic is flawed

Why can't these websites cite their sources for sales numbers? It's hard to take a website seriously when they present an article that appears to be so amateur. Are these just launch numbers or do they include long term sales? What about the Final Fantasy series, is it as strong in Europe as it is in North America? Why even include European numbers in the first place when the original claim was in a press release discussing North American sales?

Yay! another negative 360 thread!

Is it just me, or is s/he using VGC numbers? I've only checked a few games, but the ones I checked seem to agree with our numbers.
