Forums - Nintendo - IGN gushing hands-on of Excitebots: Trick Racing

Very, very positive hands-on. Bozon says it's better than Excite Truck.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

didnt really have much hope for the game, but cool. might be good;.

I was thinking at the very least it'll be another fun game that will add to a genre thats under-represented on wii. From this preview it'll get like an 8.5 or 8.6 from IGN.

I was already excited about this game....but Bozon's confidence in the title just made it a definite purchase for me. I must say that I like the work that Matt and Bozon do over at IGN. I trust their reviews and they are the first to stick it to the developers who aren't pushing the system.

The best part about this game is the fact that I don't have to wait a year until it comes out.

Well. I hope that it is a good game. I enjoyed Excite Truck. I'm starting to wonder if Nintendo is just trying their hardest to make this game not sell (along with Excite Truck) by giving it the worst name possible. That would be hardcore.

I was somewhat interested in it before, but this made me a firm believer. I loved excitetruck, and this looks to make the series much more wild.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

Excite Truck was good and all....but I rather an F-Zero game. Still...

only 40 bucks also? definite purchase!

The game looks indeed great, although it might have a little bit too much focus on tricks.

As for their reviews, how can you possibly trust them after what they did to Sonic and the Black Knight? That one was like their GTA IV review, just in the opposite direction.

I don't do Sonic.

I did watch the video review of the game and thought Matt was pretty funny, but I can't say whether I agree or not because I'll never bother picking up the game (especially after that review, haha).  But seriously, did they get it wrong?  Was the game better than their review suggested?

Double their score, remove the Mattness and it sounds about right.

EDIT: A three month ban? You are crazy.

I was wondering if you ever bothered to go back to that thread.

And from your term "Mattness" I take it you're not a fan.

Of course, my taste might be a bit different than yours.  Don't forget that there's a game that I like that you detest with all your soul.  Actually, come to think of it, there might even be several.  Did you ever try Elebits (Eledees)?

And since this is the Excitebots thread...I'm really happy to hear that the terrain morph is still in the game.  I was afraid taht they were abandoning that mechanic in favor of the in-game minigames.
