Oh so that is why third parties make so few good wii games. :o

"Little mass-market niche", that had me laughing.
The required sales for Madworld was ridiculous, in it's lifetime only ~25 games have sold more than 2 million copies, and there are many which sold less than that, did not have multi-platform releases, but were still commercially successful. You could also tell that other guy was searching his brain for a good reason as he was mentioning attach rates, attach rates are pretty irrelevant to third parties, total sales are what matter.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

For Nintendo of course it does.
April Fools coming early again? Geez people it's April 1 haha. Man I can only imagine if Madworld needed that much to make a profit how much a game like RE5 or Halo 3 or Killzone 2 would need. I mean man they would need 6-8 million haha. Gaming is definitely doomed if that's the case haha.

He also said Okami was a failure twice and Capcom said they were happy with the performace of Okami on the Wii.

I think Capcom is a failure in Okami's success. I am still waiting to run into a copy of this game in Aus. I swear the game here was only a preorder and get a copy otherwise you miss out deal
Same thing happened here with Metal Gear Twin Snakes on GCN (but GCN here was a failure so kind of expected). Wii has outsold the gamecube by like 8x in Aus so surely Capcom could realise they could SEND MORE FUCKING COPIES.

Capcom doesn't decide how much is shipped. Retailers order them and they ship them. Take it up with your local retailer... not Capcom.

RE4, REUC, Sonic SR, Mario and Sonic, CoD W@W, Guitar Hero, Lego Star Wars, Rayman, My Sims, Rock Band, Star Wars TFU, (and many more) any of those ring a bell cause they've all made their developers money.

Uh, its been said that on the Wii you need to sell around 200.000-500.000 to make profit and 1 million to make a profit on the PS3 / 360. So to say that Madworld have to be sold 1-2 million to make a profit is utter bullshit. Oh and for the record gametrailers = anti Wii.

All those are games based on already established IPs on other consoles. How are new original hardcore third party IPs which are taking place in the 15th century during a fictional war in an alternate timeline selling on the Wii? Yeah, I thought so. |
DBZ Tenkichi totally fits that.

Typical 360 game cost 3-4x as much as a Nintendo game, which means by this moron's math, they would need to sell 3-4x's as much to make a profit, or 6-12m copies. Which means what? 5 360 games have turned a profit this generation?
