Forums - Sales - Can PS3 outsell the Wii in Japan in 2009?

BengaBenga said:
Nope, Wii has Monster Hunter G, Monster Hunter 3, Tales of Ten, Wii Sports Resort, Samurai Warriors 3 and some second tier JRPGs.

PS3 has Advent Children/FFXIII demo and maybe FFXIII.

G Gundam and Atelier are popular in Japan, especially Gundam look at how huge PSP sales are when one is released

with a price cut there things can get better for the ps3
not gonna outsell the wii but at least sells better and so close to the wii

@Soriku:

I mean in 2009, not overall.

No, although I expect them to do much better this year, and I think that Final Fantasy XIII and a price-cut could actually help them to win the christmas.

Likely not. PS3 would need quite a number of japanese orientated games, which it isn't getting, at the same time the japanese devs focus more on Wii in the japanese market.
Anything is possible anyway, so maybe a decent pricecut could turn things around, but it may require Wii not getting any boost from games released on it.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

What if they release Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean this summer for the PS3? We all know that they will come, but the answer is when.

SO4 deffintely, TOV who knows

I think that sales of both consoles will remain low (with several spikes here and there) untill the Christmas or at least the late summer. The Wii has more software coming, but Sony can counter that with a price cut and then win over Christmas with Final Fantasy XIII.

If Wii Music and Animal Crossing have failed to keep the Wii selling well then why would Wii Sports resort and MH3 be any different?

depends on FF13.

Depending on when FF13 makes it out, I'd say its possible.
