Forums - Sales - Microsoft: FFXIII will sell more on 360

Ok. This game is coming out q4 09 in Japan aright? SE has said that after that they begin translating the game to English. Then AFTER the game has been translated they will BEGIN to port the game over to 360. Translation ususally takes 6 months to a year. How long will it take to port? I dunno we haven't seen a game this huge get ported from PS3 to 360 this gen.

The game is going to bang out 2-5 million copies in Japan before it will ever be played on a Microsoft console. The game will not sell 2 to1 in the US. More like 60/40 as GTA4 and SF4 did.

Sell more on 360? Not a chance in hell.

Translation and port will be made at the same time.

"Square Enix claims the game is still far too early in development to reveal (or even speculate at) a release date, though the company did reveal their current work schedule: First, the company will finish the Japanese PlayStation 3 version, which will then be localized for North America and Europe.

Once that’s completed, work will begin on the Xbox 360 version."

Since it will be released half a year or even more on PS3 before g...xbox, surely it will not sell more, but americans can hope, and only hope.

This is a far out call for Microsoft. Lets see if they can get the job done. They will need to put out demos for this game on Xbox Live as soon as they become available so that gamers can get their hands on at least a couple minutes of it. They have no timed exclusivity on this game so they must play their cards right if they plan on selling more FF copies than Sony.

Since this was a response to NPD I believe microsoft are talking about NA, and if they are MS are correct. FF13 will (most probably) sell more copies on the 360 then the ps3 in NA. The 360 has a huge install base lead and its only growing by more, not to mention that the vast majority of multiplatform games sell better on the 360 in NA.

If they meant WW then they obviously know something we don't or they're talking out of their asses.

If NPD's figures is anything to go by, Star Ocean 4, a game also by Square Enix, performed miserably on the 360, failing to hit the top 20 its first full week on the market.

It's possible considering its install base advantage the 360 version might outsell the PS3 version for North America. But it can also be a major driver for PS3 sales if the 360 version ends up being subpar and/or comes supplied on too many discs.

They feverishly attacked Killzone 2's two days sales for February 2009, but that all seems very premature as well. Killzone 2 for example outperformed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first week sales tenfold! And Uncharted turned into a million seller for the US/NA.

It will be interesting, I think FF XIII on the PS3 will easily outsell the 360 version for the rest of the world.

Gotta love MikeB!  He turns good things into bad, and bad things into good!  Like the Star Ocean 4 debut on the 360 that did incredibly well for a JRPG.  it was #1 in Japan first week, Mikey, and only released in NA on February 24th, so only 4 days worth of data for the NPD.

I don't think many people really care about multi-disc games, especially not Final Fantasy/JRPG fans!  Especially if there is some long installations needed for the PS3 version, I'd take 4 discs and a total of 1 minute lost to disc swapping over anywhere between 10-45 minutes of installs depending on how it ends up being.

Killzone 2 beat out a game that only managed a bit over a million LTD so far?  GASP NO WAYS!  Not sure why you even bring up Killzone 2 sales.  For the trumpeted AAA game on the PS3 that it is, it doesn't seem to be faring much better than Resistance 2, which is quite sad, really.

I think in the US it will be similar to the Resident Evil 5 ratio, and the rest of the world will likely make the PS3 version sell more.  But who cares?!?  Just having the ability to buy it and play it on a 360 is a losing situation for Sony and a winning situation for me

@nightsurge

You woudn't say this if you have played Star Ocean 4 on 360,which comes with multi disc, you gotta switch your disc if you would like to go back to previous town in certain map, you'll know how terrible it is after you have try this game.

Unless the game is released on the 360 in Japan, then it is near to impossible for the game to sell more on the 360 than PS3.
