I find many girls are interested in gaming, but they find it a secondary attraction, like for example TV. Not many people watch the ratings of televsion programs. A good amount do, but it isnt as critical as the sales of video game systems. Most networks (aside from UPN, WB) are going to be shut down with a lack of stellar ratings.

I think alot of women are above the (relatively) pointless arguments that take place on forums like these.

Example: I might say, "Hey Mario is a great game!" then the next person says, "Mario is THE greatest game!" and the next post says, "Actually, Mario sucks."

And then we all go on to throw personal attacks at eachother until someone gets banned / distracted / goes to bed... Women on the other hand (I hate to stereotype, because not ALL women are like this, obviously) act in a more "non-direct" confrontational style...

For example, if a WOMAN posted "Mario is great" and then got told that it "Sucks", she would probably realize, "Wow there is alot of hate on this forum, what the heck? Why am I wasting my time here?"

Of course I'm really bad at explaining this in a non-biased way (I'm not a woman)... I just think women (the majority of them anyway) generally view the pointless bickering on forums in general as a waste of their time. Maybe that isn't the case. Who knows?
