@Ari_gold

well a new IP called WKC outsold TOV & SO4

so we excpected better from SO4 at the least

but the game is really good apparently....so enjoy it as gamers!

3 million userbase vs 1 million userbase .....

Who cares about user base?  The 360 has a user base of 17 million in North America and less than 1 million in Japan.  Guess which region SO had better sales in?

Bigger user base does not equal more sales.

Let us wait for an exclusive JRPG to release on the PS3 before claiming what it can and can not sell. Not the much more niche SJRPG genre and/or 1 year late multiplatform ports.

White Knight Chronicles already demonstrated that a game from Level-5 the second biggest jrpg studio in Japan can outsell any Square's jrpgs (the biggest Jrpg developer in the world) on the 360 quite easily.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

I think it's clear now that 360 owbers don't play JRPGs. Sad but true.

Which is sad, because any comapny who gets support from Tri-Ace is a lucky company indeed, there games are always fun and hardcore yet the 360 has had 2 whole games IU and SO: TLH and look what happend....

At this point i could careless about Square Enix except for 2 games... Versus XIII and Dissidia, other then those 2 Tri-Axe makes the better games IMO...

THe genre that is FPS has to be taken down, thats why i dont support FPS anymore including KZ2 because its not what should be king of genres right now...

sorry but this is one ofthe most stupid things I've heared in this site

Stupid? how so?

why does the FPS genre needs to be taken done ??

and what does it have to do with JRPGs ??

Because if they can't play FPS, people will migrate to JRPGs... I... guess?

I know, the reason for my post was because of the people in this thread who are claiming that PS3 can not sell JRPG's in the west.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I'm enjoying star ocean alot but that doesn't mean it's for everybody. This game would have definately sold better on the PS3 but I'm not sure that's a good thing. JRPG's need to find a way to adjust to western trends or in this case the 360 audience. I'm not sure what the answer is, but then again I don't make games for a living.

It's kinda hard to sell JRPGs in the West when there are none on the PS3. The blame lies squarely on Sony for doing absolutely nothing when MSFT was moneyhatting the developers right and left.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I like it when 360fans put up the argument of "userbase" in Japan while ignoring the whole userbase of the world or NA.

Remember when 360fans justified that Star Ocean is the kind of game w/ will sell better in NA because SO3 sold better there and because of the overall userbase of the 360.

But then again it's all because of the checkbook but I think this may be the last of the exclusives just like versusXIII will be the last exclusive for PS3 as far as SE is concerned, I think it will really be multiplat from now on...

Out of all the 360 only owners/fans I've met, they all have one thing in common; they usually like wrpgs, but really have no interest in jrpgs. They usually tend to be younger; Most like oblivion, mass effect, fallout3, fable, WoW, ect. They Don't care much about the jrpgs in my 360 collection. Simply trying to Force JRPG fans to buy into their console hasn't worked for MS, and it won't ever work (on a large scale). I think most JRPG fans have grown up playing PS1 and PS2, and also in that experience been playing other games exclusive to the PlayStation platform. It's a very hard thing to do to get people change to another console (who have had their best JRPG experiences on PS1 and PS2 - this includes the Japanese.) I think SE made a poor decision, and they need to think more about the business of making their games popular; not making sure they don't lose money.

Yep the further collapse of old school gaming in America I suppose. JRPG being a part of that seems to further its downfall. How saddening.
