After the first game's staggered arrival to the market, BioShock 2 will see a "simultaneous" release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, 2K has told CVG.

"We're aiming for simultaneous release on all platforms (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC)," a company spokesperson told us, with the promise of details on the sequel's illusive multiplayer mode "soon enough". It's expected to release later this year.

The sequel was revealed in full last week via US mag Game Informer. If you haven't scrutinised every little detail like us, you should know that it takes place ten years after the original when the underwater city of Rapture's sunk further into the depths of despair.

There are more than a few shocking twists on the original formula, too.

I wanna see a multiplayer mode where there are one or two Big Daddys against a bunch of player-controlled Splicers. And a variant on the same thing where the Big Daddy has to protect some Little Sisters.

Thats good news, I hope they will have a deal on the first one when this one comes out. So I can buy them both, I always wanted the 1st one just wasnt going to pay full price for a year old game

@Vetteman94: what do you mean?  Bioshock 1 is cheap now online.

Good stuff... except for the multiplayer part, maybe.

Bioshock is $20 on Steam. Perhaps it'll be put on sale closer to Bioshock 2's release. There was one or two times when you could have gotten it for $5 on Steam.

I dont have a PC that would play Bioshock, I was planning on getting a gaming laptop this summer but those plans are looking bleak.
