thats VGC's argument for their numbers being off. I don't buy it, its the perfect scapegoat.

Yea, I mean no one lives in Canada...

You really should have banned him.

If I banned him, it would be for a week. If brett sees it, it would be a permaban. I can't make up my mind.

You guys are ruining the thread with all of your talk about banning.

"The hardcore you've been waiting for!"

Apparently not.

lol, this gave me a good laugh

You guys have been around long enough to know that Wii games don't have to have huge opening weeks/months to be long-term successes.

If the Wii userbase was really screaming for 'hardcore' games like some users on this site as well as Sega claim then the game should have been very frontloaded.

Incidently, HotD Overkill is very casual friendly, this isn't a 'hardcore' game.  Compare the difficulty to other HotD games and you'll conclude Overkill is very lacking.

This is completely tangential, but is it difficulty that makes games "hardcore" now? If so, Wii Fit/Wii Music are some of the most hardcore games ever, while every JRPG ever made is automatically disqualified.

Come to think of it, Tetris is now more hardcore than Contra, as no one's  ever beaten the former. And Street Fighter IV takes a backseat to Sudoku games. And...

the launch numbers are about the same as HotD2&3, but still, this one costs $49 and almost a million HotD owners, maybe $49 is a bit too much for a House of the Dead :P not that it's bad, but I thought it would do a bit better than this..

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I'd be willing to bet that this sells over 800k LTD, WW. Price drop would give it a big boost, but its not doing too bad as it is. I believe its at 160k or something.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

HoTD: Overkill opened to similar numbers but isn't showing the legs of HoTD 2&3 - probably because of the price. It's $60 Cdn here, more than MadWorld, Dead Rising and twice the price of Bikini Zombie Slayers or NPC Pikmin so the fact that it's even selling as well as it is is somewhat surprising but I think $40 Cdn would be a more appropriate price and it'll sell easily sell over 1m once the price starts to lower.

As for Sega's 'Mature' titles, that's exactly what I think they are - 'M'ature but not terribly 'core'. They are all pretty accessible games for casual players.

 *facepalm

The 45k number is NPD for USA only.

The 52k number is VGC's data for US, Canada, and Mexico, the latter two are usually only around 10-15% of the former.

thats VGC's argument for their numbers being off. I don't buy it, its the perfect scapegoat.

Yea, I mean no one lives in Canada...

Nice try, but wrong arguement.

No sales occur in Canada, Mexico, etc.

Difficulty relation depends on the genre as well as the times.

IOW: hardcore is what I say it is.

Where is Chrizum?

Also bye bye Ari_Gold for being annoying.

Here I am.

I admit, I overrestimated US sales. I thought it would be around 100k for NPD february. It seems VGChartz is spot on (VGChartz has it around 43k for february).

I still think this game is somewhat undertracked in Others (around 35k I think), based on the charts of Chart-Track.

Brett said:
Why?! Chart Track sales for Overkill to date are 37k - why would that suggest that the number for Others should be higher than the 85k we have it at?

37k? For what date and what region is that number?

Chart Track - UK upto 14th March

Well, Uk is less than 30% of the Wii market. But let's be generous and say 1/3 of the sales come from the UK. That means 37k x 3 = 111k. Not to mention that, appearantly, the game is selling really well in Australia.

I think the game's undertracked by 25k-35k 20k-30k in Others.
