I think it lasted something like that in Japan, yeah. Even looking at it from a worldwide perspective, it was getting games licensed by Nintendo until '94 or '95.

The Atari 2600/VCS lasted for over 10 years as well.

It isnt the centrepiece of most PS3 owners entertainment now... its a gaming machine that they play blurays on.

Do most people:

watch tv through it... no - regular TV
play all their music through it... no - Ipod/Hi fi system
browse theinternet trhough it... no - PC/Laptop still tops even for PS3 users
view their pics throuhg it.... no - PC/Laptop still tops even for PS3 users

Well me and alot of PS3 owners worldwide Play games on the system, listen to music form the system, watch DVDs and Blu-Rays through the system, store photos on the system, go on the internet on the system, transfer files through the system and generally use it as a media centre. Also with Play TV and PSP functionallity, the statement isn't so arrogant at all.

Actually it was 20 years lol

In Japan the Nes came out in 1983 and was discontinued in 2003 (20 years), in North america the Nes came out in 1985 and was discontinued in 1995 (10 years)
