Forums - Nintendo - Madworld not selling confirmed

No it's not. Uncharted is a 1st party game that gets constantly advertised, got bundled, gets always named at PR statements and got a LOT more hype than Madworld around the web. Being a 1st party title almost always guarantees it's a huge seller.

Give me another example, you can't cause all the big HD sellers are huge projects. Wii hasn't seen one yet. It will see MH3 soon. At least Zelda, SMG, Brawl, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime sold really well. Even Red Steel being a new franchise sold more than a million and it's a FPS. Ubisoft and Nintendo hyped Red steel a lot.
The problem with the Wii is that it's getting ignored by most Western devs and what it actualy gets are multiplat games or spin-offs.

I've yet to see a huge AAA hyped game sell bad on the Wii. No, Madworld was too niche, snce it comes from a niche dev.
Give the Wii a GTA, a proper Resident Evil, a MGS game, a big fighter, a big racing game and it'll sell. IMO the problem is that many Wii owners already own an HD console, and seeing that 3rd parties are never gonna give the Wii a huge game, they won't bother anymore. All the big franchises are going to the HD consoles, so all the huge sales are there. Wii is getting innovative new games, but not the typical huge thing. They sell well, but they will never sell like a MEGA project sells on the HD's.

Wii will not get any big games this gen, save for the Nintendo ones, so you better not buy a Wii if this concerns you that much.

But if more Wii owners bought games like No More Heroes, Madworld, The Conduit, Okami, and Zack and Wiki and these other games that are better than The Big 4 on the Wii in sufficient numbers (maybe just a couple of million each but really I don't see why they shouldn't sell as well as Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games), then developers would have no choice but to bring these big exclusive types of third-party games to the Wii like the PS2 had.  Without them the the Wii library will never match up to the PS2's.

I think you fail to realise that games like Okami, No More Heroes, and Madworld cost little money, cater only to certain group of gamers because they are very niche and they  wouldnt sell better on 360 or PS3 or PS2, just look at the sales of Okami on PS2. Hell look at big third party effort like Prince of Persia which did not break a milion on Either PS3 or 360, because it has cell shaded visuals.

Okami , Madworld have nothing in common with Gears and Halo which are targeted at hardcore/mainstream/casual owners (basically all of them) of the 360, and have great hype, budget and advertising behind them.

When a 3rd party studio decides to put loads of money, effort and create a game in a popular genre that appeal to wide audience (WRPG, Shooter, Racing) on the Wii , then the game will sell, show me a game like that that bombed and then we can talk about Wii games not selling, for example if MH III does poorly in Japan.

About lack of M games on the Wii, i personally do not need too much of them, im happy playing mario over gears.

ps. And about Sonic and Mario on the Olympic games i personally think it is a great game, you should give it a go with friends or family , absolute blast.

MAdworld may not have as much marketing, but saying it wasn't in the company plan is just plain naive. The same can be said for NMH2 and Muramasa, Plus development cost for the wii is cheaper than say the PS3 so that "requirement" is hollow as well.

Thanks Voltaire for getting my point. I never said the upcoming 3rd party games like Muramasa, Ar Rise Fantasia, Overlord, etc were bad games. I'm saying big as in the sense of hype and budget. Wii isn't getting them, it will some day in Japan, there's some coming up, but Western devs have given it's back to the Wii when it comes to big core games. We have Guitar Hero, sport titles, but not a big gamers game.

You Fossil are putting words in my mouth that I never said. Whenever/if a western dev puts a huge core game on the Wii I'll be proven wrong. Until then I'm correct with my statements.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Game is top-seller on game.co.uk, 8th on amazon.co.uk

I hope it stays there for a while.

Who cares about mass media hype? The people you seem to want to play these games are they same people who saw the american Godzilla, the transformers movie,  play the madden games and backed out on the PS brand when they saw the price tag: They aren't gamers, their nothing more than puppets to be maniplulated by by a larger force by way of hyberbole, as Nintendo has been displaying for the past 3 years. If all you care about is sale just put down your controller and think about how much video games mean to you.

50k is great for a wii game, especially a third party, I expect this game to have great legs, will end up making it to a million or more!

This rabbit hole goes awfully deep.

I'm not going to argue how I feel.

You think there was crap, I think that the good is better than most system's libraries. Please drop the subject, you're not going to prove anything to me abut this topic.

Look, you're free to leave whenever you want, but can you blame me for doing a double take when you claim that every piece of software on the NES and SNES was desirable?

because that's exactly what i said

Yes. It is exactly what you said.

Nice way to derail a conversation Fossil, very much appreciated. We are talking about sales here, have you even read the OP before posting?

Why yes I have, in the last 50 threads exactly like this. Actually I'm just having fun now, you sales-mongers are so fun to play with.

i was just emphasizing smartass, hence why I didn't even realize I said it. Still doesn't change the fact that the library doesn't compare. So go get laid or something. Grom
