The plural of SIXAXIS should probably be SIXAXES... but on to more relevent points:
The main motivator for me to get more DS 3s (now have 3 DS3s and 2 SIXAXES) was PES, and then I got my 5th controller when we got a second PS3 just for BD playback
Well, I got my DS3's long before LBP came out. I believe I got one right when they were released, and then one for my birthday in June. And, since my friends all got PS3's for Christmas, but with no LBP, I can't say they got one for LBP either.

You mean Dualshock 3 rite? Anyways I believe that it helped play a role in the DS3 sales quite a bit. Though I'm unsure how many bundles were sold

SIXAXI could be a good one but it is a shame to lose such a nice Palindrome...
My girlfriend made me go out and buy her a new DS3 after I made her try LBP. Then she went back out a week later and bought 2 controllers so she can play with her friends. She doesn't play with me anymore cause she says I'm too good but truth is she isn't that great. :P
I now have 4 controllers even though I mostly play online or RPG's lol.

I bought two more because of LBP. I don't see any other game that would cause me to have more than 2 controllers total. I'd say the game was probably responsible for selling at least half a million controllers.

To be honest with you When LBP came out the DS3
was the only controller available. I should have named the thread
How much did LBP help sell extra controllers?
I think that LBP was a "controller seller" because of the awesome 4 player co-op.
Dualshock 3 by default.
