Forums - Nintendo - Other than DSi ware, is there really a need to buy a DSi?

I'll be getting one. Probably not at launch but I will be getting one. I want to download old Gameboy games legally. Should be a ton of fun. Plus the DSi is an actual upgrade to the DS Lite. I never understood people who bought DS Lites when they had perfectly functional DS Phats. I'll be keeping my old DS for GBA games though.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I am tempted to get a DSi, if it makes the touch screen more accurate. So, if I play Puzzle Quest on the DSi, I am less likely to incur penalties for not selecting the right move, due to the touch screen misreading things.

I'm getting it for the DSiWare. Also the possibility of using it as a digital photo frame is a plus. Web browser, camera and music playback are all nice (with a few mixing options), but not that interesting (with the exception of possible interesting games that the camera gets).

As for the GBA slot; DSL will still have the slot, even the one i own, GBA isn't getting new games anymore, the existing GBA games are starting to be a little hard to find (unless used) and the only stuff i have for the slot, is a Megaman Battle Network game that i haven't played for ages. Besides, i can't recall the whining when newer GBA models had BC dropped.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I have a DS phat and i don't know how much will it (i don't think a DSLite justify the upgrade) so i think the DSi is a good excuse to upgrade.

I sold my Lite for future investment.

DSi on April 5th I believe.

I am buying it for the larger screens/improved speakers and the addition of DSiCamera and DSiSound and the enhanced wireless of course. Oh then there's the new UI which is just plain better, the ability to 'hot swap' and the more comfortable stylus. And having had a chance to go hands on with an imported one thanks to a friend I also want the more comfortable stylus and slightly better d=pad, shoulder buttons & volume controls. Also something about reduced weight and thickness.

I want a DSi so I can deny myself access to the great selection of GBA games.

Yes, because when you get a DSi they make you sign a contract that says you must throw out you DS and Gameboy Advance. Those clever buggers.

I simply wanted one. No other reason is necessary.

For me, nope, no way at all. I have a PSP, does all I need. My DS Lite is perfectly fine.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Any Nintendo handheld is worth buying to me.

I bought all 4 GBA models and I'll buy every DS model just because it's a Nintendo handheld.
