They might not make the game, but the definitely publish it.

at least according to VGC.

i think the topic of this thread is about ubisoft's internal studio

Ubisoft's problem is that they need to diversify. Their entire strategy consists of "core" titles for PS360PC, and casual titles for DSWii. Pretty poor plan. They should start making MMOs, F2P Games, Subscriptions, etc...

They have a goldmine of franchises with great potential. One of them is the popular Chessmaster - the traditional boxed model is not good enough for Chessmaster. Instead they should release the online portion of Chessmaster for free, supported by revenue from ads, while still releasing the traditional box every couple of years with the single-player + exclusive features for the online portion (kinda like an expansion).

I hope they're working on Prince of Persia 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 3.

PoP 2 will be out in 2010, the same team makes AC (well there are overlaps, I think they work in the same way as Insomniac), so we will see AC 2 this year, and then PoP 2 the following year, and if you are worrying about manpower at Ubi Montreal, they have 1,800 employees!

Anyway, neither a new Rainbow Six nor Ghost Recon game have been announced, but simply rumoured, and they are just plain inevitable

@ shio, I do agree with you. They have platformers and shooters covered, and while End War and HAWX were an attempt at some diversification (allbeit still under the TC brand), they did fail, but your chessmaster idea doesn't sound bad (even though I would never consider buying it!). Their disadvantage when you compare them to someone like EA is the lack of diversity, I can't think of a racer that they make, and while SWS was an expansion into sports, they do about nothing there, whereas EA are raking in the money from FIFA and Madden every year

They are working on Red Steel 2, at least that's what I'm hoping for.

Red Steel 2. Cant wait, Red Steel is great

And it's not just about targetting different genres - It's also about exploring other types of business models. So far they have only focused on traditional business, only boxed copies. There's a huge hole that isn't being tapped: subscriptions, microtransactions, ad revenue, etc... Ubisoft is barely even looking at that.

And yeah, EA is doing what they're supposed to do: Battlefield Heroes, Battleforge, Need for Speed World Online, Warhammer Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, etc... a lot of variety there.

It is supposed that Red Steel 2 is going to be showed at the end of this month.

Assassin's Creed 2, Red Steel 2, TMNT: Smash Up (publisher only)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
