Forums - Gaming - "Killzone 2 to drive XBox 360 owners to PS3, claims Sony"

The fact that he is making this statement, when the initial data after several weeks of the game's release shows how out of touch with reality sony truly is...the game didn't even make massive waves with CURRENT ps3 owners...but it's going to make 360 owners buy a ps3...lol...right...

You didn't read the article.

Well in a way it's true. It probably isn't going to convert many people, but it would be the kind of game you would ask a friend to pop in and see if you happened across his house with a PS3 and Killzone 2. Really the game ties heavily into the 360 fanbase, so it's understandeable it would garner some interest. If this were a Microsoft published title for 360 then 360 owners would be eating this game up at probably twice the rate PS3 fans are right now.

This is my problem with the quote (and many sentiments on this site,) it is worded carefully to imply amazing, successful and gamechanging, but only directly states amazing and successful. So when it is successful but doesn't alter the competitive landscape no matter what you say, nothing is overhyped. Please forgive me if I never again buy into the implied paths to Sony overtaking the 360. (Yes this includes FF13 versus, GT5 and a $100 price cut.)

This article proves wrong for me. Despite knowing that Kz2 is in fact a good game, I have absolutely no desire to play it, even on a friend's console. It's definitely not a game that draws me in. Hmm, maybe the stigma of Killzone 1 being total crap has something to do with it HINT HINT

Yeah, I finally have a sig.

I've yet to meet someone IRL who bought a PS3 JUST for KZ2..

Aw, no mention of Wii owners graduating to the PS3.

Because Sony knows that Nintendo Fans are loyal and will never transfer to their or Microsoft's side.

I think that Killzone 2 looks good but I have no intentions of buying a Ps3 because of it. It's not about money for me as much as it is about gaming time. The 360 has more than enough to keep me busy for a while even in just the Fps genre.
It does make perfect sense though that the more good looking or highly praised games that the Ps3 has to offer, the easier it will be for a lot of the 360 only people to justify buying it. I mean if I were on the fence about getting a Ps3 because I really wanted to play Killzone 2 the fact that I could also then be able to play games like Lbp, MGS4, God of War and so on would most likely sway me to make the purchase. I'm sure this has happened many times and it will continue to happen. I don't think the amount of crossovers is too significant in the big picture though but who knows.

Well it will drive some, but not to the point an impact is made.

Keep on dreaming Sony. Killzone 2 is no doubt a good game, but it isn't much greater then Resistance 2.

No from what I've seen of Killzone 2, my roommate has it. It deserves it high scores. Resistance 2 was disappointment. I'm still at loss for why that game scored as highly as it did. My roommate never trades in his games. He still has his old Saturn and Sega CD stuff and he took Resistance 2 back to Gamestop and traded in it. He took a $30 loss on it.

I don't get this.  What did people expect of Resistance 2?  Because it didn't up Gears 2, it is a disappointment?

The statement is true but then the damage would be minimal anyway ... think of all the PS3 fans who went on to buy a 360 for the best 3 FPS's this generation Gears, Gears 2 and Halo 3.

I'd hope not as Gears 1 and 2 are not First Person Shooters.

Because you have to hold down a trigger to switch into what appears to be a FPS perspective for shooting, it shouldn't be considered in the same arena as Halo 3, KZ2 or Call of Duty?

And in other news, Microsoft is expected to release a statement how Forza 3 will drive PS3 owners to the 360!

WOO!
