Or rather how we can help VGChartz as far as the ads go? Like, does just clicking on the ad help the site or do you have to buy/sign up?

I keep seeing an advert for HOTEL Chocolate and I'm going to buy some (rather expensive) chocolate from the site.

Most ad sponsors typically pay attention to hits and click-throughs (terminology may vary).

An ad gets a hit when you see it. An ad gets a click-through when you click on it. Some ad sponsors can even link click-throughs to purchases. Based on those factors, they either usually pay a certain amount of money per factor (per hit, per click) or buy ad space for a fixed amount.

I have no idea what the deal specifics are on vgChartz but that's how, in general, internet ads work.

I only really know about the Amazon ads, and if you bought all your games through the VGChartz store it would help a lot I personally buy all my amazon goods through the VGChartz store just to help the website out. However, I don't buy from VGChartz if I wasn't going to buy from Amazon in the first place.

what is with the halo wars ads that take up the whole screen? these have to be the most intrusive ads short of those found on porn sites.

I hate those.  They pop up and take up your entire field of view and the only way I can get rid of them is to refresh the page and hope it doesn't pop up again. (the x in the corner is unclickable). It forced my hand in temp blocking everything via the forbidden fruit.

VGChartz store = extra store front for Amazon.com. You are buying from amazon, but taking some money away from amazon and giving it to VGChartz
