In Japan they could because of high yen and low sale volumes. Even with the price drop PS3 would not sell as much as in America or Europe so price drop wouldn't harm Sony much.

the PS3 really started selling well in japan the last few months..
it was only a matter of time .. sony can afford a small price drop in japan.
 but with it selling this good why cut the price

@Riot Of The Blood i dnt thnk its gna cum to under 10 k anymore..i thnk its newest low cud be around 10-15k or even 15-17k...hope the ps3 outsells the others by a long margin coz its gna be near impossible for it to win ww..hopefully if it outsells the others by abt 22k it has a chance to cum close..altho im sure evrythng is gna be fi9 with the sales after the price cut...altho sony will hardly hav any profits...
