It was an evil corporation that helped run Sega out of the console business to begin with.

Yes the CD-I was the result of an attemp by nintendo to get panasonic to make a cd base console for them (thats how the ps one started too) but later they whent with cardtriges, so panasonic had the rigths for many nintendo games, but none of the developers, so panasonic developed a zelda and a mario game for the CD-I, two abominations that could only be used to torture people by inquisition.

Of course they had a lot of self-inflicted injuries. Look at how many failed consoles they have on this list. It's why I said Sony only helped run them out of the business.

The main thing wrong with this list is that it did not go back far enough to be called "of all time."
With the exception of the Atari 2600, no console from the classic (pre-NES/FC) era sold 10M (the Atari sold 30M in its dozen-plus year run).
Consoles today with lively homebrew communities and general followings -- such as the Colecovision (6-7M). Intellivision (3-6M depending upon source and interpretation), Odyssey 2/Videopac (unknown), and Atari 5200 (unknown) sold less than the DC.
Plus, there were a multitude of other consoles which didn't sell that well: RCA Studio II, Fairchild/Zircon Channel F, APF MP-1000, Bally Astrocade, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Vectrex, etc. -- as well as pong and other dedicated units and the original Magnovox Odyssey.

Sony had a lot to do with it. I doubt the Saturn would have been such a big failure if Sega only had to compete with Nintendo.
If you are interested on those older stinkers, the angry videogame nerd has done specials on pretty much every one in the list besides the saturn and the dreamcast.
Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Anyway this article was terrible. We are missing many high profile consoles. Stuff such as the NeoGeo AES & CD, Amiga CD32, PC-FX, SuperGrafx. And if addons are included where is the Jaguar CD? Dreamcast definitely outsold all of these.
The writer should have done his homework first.
