Forums - Gaming - Do you like violence in video games?

It seems like a lot of video games are pretty violent or at least have lots of fighting in them.

Do you like that?

Sure, I like violence when appropriate. Depending on the situation, different levels of violence are more fun.

It all depends. For the most part yes. Im not a huge gore loving guy myself but in some games it works.

Shit like Manhunt is boring and unnecessary though.

I like when appropriate (like no high graphic details). Extreme violence is too juvenile and cheap. I don't like it at all.

While a game doesn't have to be good, only because it has a lot of violence, it's fun and it defines my view on a game (something you can't and/or shouldn't do in real life (or simply when it's too dangerous))
what about you ?

Yes, I love violence, although I also play Rated E games.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Sure but I don't need violence to enjoy a game at all

Everyone on this site enjoys violence in their games, sparing no one. The only people that don't would be those stuck strictly on puzzle games and alternative games like Tetris, Zuma, Wii Fit, etc.

I think the violence in video games is fine. Excessive gore however is just unnecessary. Violence arises from conflict and conflict is found in most stories that are worth their weight in beans. Most games nowadays are built around a story and so end up having some level of violence.

Entertainment has always been built around either psychological or physical violence.

It's fine... as long as it makes sense. (Some games you just poke a guy in the eyes 3 stooges style and 500 pints of blood shoots out.... yeah that I don't like)

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.
