I don't think it is. It's aged a lot. When was the last time you played it ?.. It is still pretty enjoyable though.. played through it a few months back again.. but yeah, i would agree if not for the half life episodes which are pretty much ... well milking it.. Other than those i would agree that they weren't milking it. |
I ronic you should ask that. I was going through it just now. I'm halfway through Ep1 now. It hasn't aged one bit, it's still amore enjoyable single-player than anything out there.

No one will ever accuse Valve of wasting their resources, that's for sure. A few other companies could learn from their actions. Blizzard and Valve are two of the most successful game companies around and they're the ones who abuse their franchises the least and get the most out of whatever technology they create.

Didn't Valve say that the three HL2 episodes were Half-Life 3?

I seem to recall them saying something like that but when the next HL releases, you can bet it will be called HL3. The marketing department will demand it.

Yes, but they also said that there'd be only two episodes, there'd be only one expansion for Half-Life and that Team Fortress 2 would release in 2000!
There will a Half-Life 3, of that I am 110% sure! When it will arrive is a different matter alltogether, though.

Hahah, good call on TF2. I forgot it was actually supposed to be an original HL game.
How many expansions did HL1 end up getting? Three? Four? I don't even remember anymore...

Hmm, there was Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Team Fortress (more a mod though but it was listed as an expansion in catalogues) and Condition Zero (technically based upon both the work og Valve and the Gooseman team who made the original CS). In addition, Team Fortress 2 was supposed to release as a late HL expansion with the Source 1.5 (so to speak) engine.
Newell stated in an interview with Gametrailers or Gamespot or some such that they were working on a third version of the now famed Source Engine (which of course has been utilized by numerous developers and games by now) and it seems logical to me that they'd use this in a third Half-Life game (allthough Epic's Unreal 3 engine was never used for a main series Unreal 3 SP game I don't think Valve would take this route).
All these things be damned, I want my Episode 3! Number 2 just blew me away on all accounts!
PS: Speaking of Source Engine; look out for ZenoClash this year guys!
Half-Life 3 will exist, and make as huge an explosion as Half-Life 1 and 2. It will be the best FPS we will have ever seen when it arrives, and most likely will come to PC first until a console generation later when they can actually handle it,

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
