Forums - Gaming - ps3 vs 360 is one actually better than the other?

PS3 is better of course. No question. You'd almost have to be an Xbox fanboy to deny that. PS3 can be used as a proper media player, has wireless and blu ray. However, Pound for Pound or Dollar for Dollar 360 is better.

They are both great consoles in regards to software offerings, but I need to bring the Wii into this as well because it boils down to the games. I love Miyamoto, and his staple of classic franchises are enough reasons to buy a Wii. Also, I'm a huge Ratchet & Clank fan. Ratchet & Clank Future was the single enough reason to me to buy a PS3. And when I look back at my PS2 software collection, 25% of those titles were either developed and/or published by SONY. So as long as SONY continues the 1st/2nd party push (which they are), a PS3 was a no-brainer. So SONY's software efforts have impresed me more than Microsoft's efforts in regards to the topic of this thread. But overall, you cannot leave out the Wii in this, at least I'm not going to. And HappyPerson14, I agree with your sig, but in context, you might want to look up Microsoft's past business dealings. They are not a competitive company.

OT: The market does suggest that the Xbox 360 is the preferred system of the two given all the factors. Economics teaches me that there is wisdom in markets so I have to go with that.

Aparently you haven't been reading the buisness section for the last year and a half.

Then again, this is why I prefer Hanna Montana to the Bach family.

Also as an individual gamer, I do not let the market be the primary reason to buy a gaming console.  I let my personal perferences decide that.  That's what gamers do, right?

Wrong. Real gammers only care about market share. This is why we play nothing but bejeweled.

I was going to be sarcastic to complement your sarcasm, but I was afraid it might be taken the wrong way.  Good response though.

I own all 3 systems: PS3, 360, Wii. My 360 is now out of the 3 year warranty and I just got my 2nd Red Ring of Death. After getting it back the 1st Time, I started getting disc read errors.

The 360s harware problems are well documented.

It is true that Live is a litter better at getting you connected to friends, but it is not a show stopper in my opinion. PSN works really good and I have never seen any Lag. I also like that PSN supports more than 16 Players. XBox Live is typically 8, 16, and 24 max in most games. This is where you'll here the 360 fanboys tell you that 16 is the "Sweet Spot" that is XBot speek for justifying why we have to pay for XBox Live... Killzone 2 is awesome with 32 players in a match. Resistance 2 supports 60 players... I still prefer Killzone 2 however.

Since my 360 is so unreliable I mainly buy for my PS3. There are plenty of excellent games for both. I love Halo so that is all we use our 360 for anymore. As far as systems go I prefer my PS3 because it is reliable and I also love Little Big Planet and Killzone2 on the Exclusive fronts.

I prefer the PS3

i know this is kind of a common thread.  but rather than ask which console each person prefers, i actually want to know what either side really has against the opposing console.  is either one really truly the better machine.  does processing speed or amount of memory on the hard drive make one better than the other.  i own a 360 but i think the ps3 is not a bad console at all.  why is there any tension at all between both sides.  is it really all that important to feel like one is better than the other.  also, please answer seriously, if your just here to comment on how much you hate this thread then why'd you even bother coming to it.

lol YES!!! of course it does, thats what being better is all about. "Better" entails that one thing can do what the others do, and more. Life would be so much easier if they were equal.......but there not, Which is a good thing.
