Your adding a lot to the topic.
Also, Heavy Rain doesn't have "gameplay" necessarily. The game is "played" out in a series of interactive cutscene quick-time events, ala Indigo Prohphecy. The games strength is based on its quality of narrative, and gameplay itself becomes a much less important feature, again, like Indigo Prophecy.
In fact, the game is a spiritual sucessor to Indigo Prophecy, and anyone who has played that excellent game should know what to expect.
As far as best "looking" game of the year, well, Killzone 2 looks pretty good, but Warhead came out last year I believe, and it looks better than Killzone 2. Alan Wake on computer looks to have some excellent backdrops which will probably encompass some functional gameplay as well. Besides that we have underdogs like Flower.
However, assuming the Heavy Rain has the best graphics is like saying the Blu-Ray version of The Dark Knight has the best graphics on any console. It's a good looking rendered movie, granted, but we haven't seen the scope of the true functional realtime gameplay yet(which if its my guess, like Indigo Prophecy, there won't be any, besides maybe a sneaking mission here or there, and all action will take place inside excellently rendered quick-time events), so...why?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
