Forums - Sony - Final Fantasy 7 vs Final Fantasy 12

I prefer 7 myself.

haven't played 7, but played 3,4,9,10,11 (yep the mmo),12. 12 has the best combat system to date, but overall, I think its an avg game and 4,9,10 are better then 12.

Well I gave away FF7.

I still own 12.

So... yeah i'm going with 12.

Also I have seen change in the series since I began playing it over 15 years ago. Maybe not huge changed, but some changes none the less.

I have always enjoyed needing to think during a battle and having to do things to win. In FFXII I could easily get by just going into my menu, setting up my gambits, get into a battle and just sit back and let it do it's thing.

That for me was just boring and FFXII lovers just need to accept that. Just like I accept that they actually enjoyed it.

This is an absolutely horrible reason to prefer XII to VII. Most of VII's battles can be played by taping down X. Later on, once more Materia(Final Attack & Magic Counter) is available this is especially true. The taping down X thing is also true for the majority battles in FFs though. There's only a few battles in each iteration that actually require some thought to win, and XII has its fair share as well. However, if you've only made it up to Raithwall you've yet to experience many of the tougher battles.

Except you actualy tap the O button.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

I don't care for either game but FFVII is the most overrated game ever created. I'd take pretty much any other game in the series over VII.

What a tough question, but I'm going with XII.

FFXII

Continuous and coherent world, seamless gameplay, no archaic battle screens.

Just like Windwaker's cel-shading and diverging story, it's a shame the conservative nostalgia-driven fanbase scorned it. So we are now back to OOT clones and 80's RPG game mechanics.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

FF7 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FF12

12 is short, very little strategy is needed, almost no real summons, no good magic, all chars are generic, and it wants revolutionary for its time.

When FF7 come out the closest thing back then was Chrono triggers, now that was a big jump, lots of secrets, 3 disk, a lot of FMV, materia system was great summons were awesome, hidden characters. Final Fantasy 7 come out when mortal kombat 2 was the big hit, back then FF7 open the way for many other RPGs.

I liked the battle system in XII vastly more.

However, the story in VII is epic win.

I call it a tie.

VIII beats them both.

...and despite my lightheartedness as of late, I think most of you will agree, I know my shit.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'll go ahead and separate this part.

@FFXII haters:

FFXII fans didn't see something that wasn't there. You missed something that was.

...but you already knew that, didn't you?
