iv played this game and it was not what I expected. RE isnt about finding 6 guns in the first 4 hours of playing. And RE isnt about 10+ enemies spawning wherever you go. This game is no longer survival horror, its action horror.

 @ Bolded.

Play the game on the harder difficulties and you will see its still Survival horror... when you run out of Herbs/Sprays im sure youll change your views on the whole genre. Its invented a new genre to gaming. Action/Survival/Horror.

I think the reason for "hate" is because so many people loved RE4 and now with RE5, any little change might be looked upon negatively. One thing I noticed between RE4 and the demo of RE5 was that 4 was very simple in play control. 5 seemed a little more excessive in play control. Although I only played the demo once so far so might be totally off.

I think another reason is because 4 came out exclusively for Nintendo for almost a year before the PS2 and now, Nintendo's big system isn't getting 5 at all. Nintendo fans keep seeing their system overlooked again again by many of the big hardcore mainstream titles. I fel that way for a while and I realized I would need an HD system so I picked up an Xbox 360. It makes me resent the fact the Wii misses out a lot less. It also makes me question though if I'll buy a Nintendo system first next gen if it's a repeat of this gen.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

To be fair, you could beat Resident Evil 1 & 2 in 4 hours, and obtain all guns in that time, easily.

Heck, a RE1 speedrun can be done in under 3hrs pretty easily, and get most of the weapons. You may want to actually play Resident Evil before you comment.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'm new to the Resident Evil series...

At first, I got RE5 and was WTF with the controls? They are pretty unconventional.

I thought, gee it can't be this bad so I picked up the manual and learned the controls then practiced for a little bit...

When I mastered the controls I went back into the levels... I'm liking it a lot more now... I can see why people would get frustrated and not like the game... But I also see why it is good now...

To me it deserves 8-8.5... Not very scary, but a solid survival action/semi-horror. The story makes sense and is flowing good, the graphics are well done. The sound is decent but not excellent.

I'm loving RE5 game as i did when i played the demo. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the controls. If anybody complains about the controls then play RE4 on PS2 and thatll make you change your mind cuz RE4 controls is ridiculously hard to aim.

It's FAN BLOODY TASTIC.

i'm on chapter 5-2 right now and have thoroughly enjoyed every last second of it.

9.5 for me, and thats without playing online 2 player OR the extra modes yet.

Apparently, THIS is the thread I was looking for! I LOVE Resident Evil 5!!

bingo

they loved RE4 and capcom gave them an HD & better version of RE4.

it's a very very good game.

G4 6 out of 10?
lol

G4 gave the Resident Evil Remake for the Gamecube a 3/5 too.  I remember owning that game and watching the review.  They showed Chris shooting up in the air and running the wrong way, trying to tell the viewer how bad the controls were.  Those guys paint the picture that they want us to see.

Been playing this all weekend with a friend (or, actually, its the other way around, its his 360... ) and I gotta say; its awesome!
Last night we hooked up a system link and played on two TV's and that was really, really cool (I don't like how the screens in splitscreen are so small and don't fill out the picture, it is standard fare to have player 1 on top and player 2 in the bottom, we don't need the screens skewed to two sides to tell them apart).

People who have ridiculous expectations from a video game end up being the ones that complain.

RE5 is an amazing title and builds on the winning formula of the last game. Any criticism towards it should have gone towards RE4.
