During an interview with 360 magazine, Microsoft's Dan Greenwalt said that the 360 offers better value than Wii, and is capable of competing with Nintendo's console when it comes to casual gamers

"The casual crowd doesn’t appear to be as brand loyal and opinionated as the hardcore crowd," Greenwalt told 360 magazine. "Casual players are looking for quick fun, accessibility, social interaction, and price. For those consumers, Microsoft offers a compelling value with a console offering that is less expensive than the Wii...[the 360 is] arguably better value as we offer a diverse library of games and experiences for all types of consumers."

Sure... But Wii already has most of the casual market.

Of course they can compete with the Wii for the casual market, but that doesn't really mean much because of the word "compete". I mean I could compete with Mike Tyson in a boxing match, and get the crap kicked outta me 3 seconds after the first bell, but technically I still competed.

Well Microsoft have to start targeting the casual demographic now as the generation is starting to head towards that time where the casuals begin buying the cheaper consoles. Many people who bought the PS2 in the last 3 years will begin looking to upgrade and Microsoft have to reel them all in.

Well I can agree with the value part. The Wii is a rip off, and it's ridiculous they are actually considering raising the price of it, as if it and all the "Wii ...." titles don't make enough money.

The casual market is a confusing one, so I don't think it'll be as easy to get them as this fellow thinks.

The fight is on for the ps2 casuals that havnt up graded yet. The wii is getting most of them, but Microsoft clearly has an advantage cause of price. They just need to advertise to them more. less shooters and more E rated happy games.
