The od RE had its time. Even REmake has lost the crown of scariest game to Dead Space.

i like the new takes they have done onm the game. I like things that are different but still good which RE5 certainly is. I like it better than the other resident evils

The original RE sold a lot more than RE4... RE2 sold even more. I don't get why they strayed away from the old style. Just because fast paced shooters are the popular thing doesn't mean the RE franchise should jump into that genre. RE had the survival horror genre on lock. It would be like FF turning into a shooter because they sell more than JRPG's.

If I was another developer or publisher I would jump on this and take advantage of the void the RE franchise has left in the real survival horror genre. There are millions of gamers like myself that are dying to play an old school survival game. Not this made for casual players crap.

Hrm, I don't know if the series CAN move back in that direction. I feel like they should have just made RE4 a spin off series a la Umbrella Chronicles and kept the different styles of games continue in parallel

The scary thing is that the above scenario might actually happen a few years down the line. Final Fantasy has been around since the 80s, it will still be around for 25 to 30 more years. Plenty of time for grudual changes.

I like the new direction better. Besides I believe if you check movie bost offices, there are more fans of action than of horror...

As for the millions and millions of gamers looking for survival horror games, why didn't they purchase DeadSpace if there are so many of them ???????



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Well, I can never trust that opinion again. It's just so contrary to the goddamn truth, imo.

RE4 is damn near at the top of my "greatest games ever made" list. How in the hell could anyone want to go back to the tank based control schemes, and the godaweful backtracking key system of the original, point and click style games.

Also, Benga, the REmake along with CV:X are the two best RE games out there besides 4. Comparing the very best that the genre has ever had to offer isn't fair(REmake and RE4 are two different genres, and they are both still the "best" of what their genres have to offer). Compare it to RE3. Do you really want to go back to that? Wouldn't is be destroyed by most critics?

With RE4, Capcom made a revolution of gaming, and a magnificent masterpiece. There wouldn't be a Dead Space OR a Gears of War, in their current form, without that game. None of you would deny that, I'm sure. The developers have said as much. How can one move backwards, to an antiquated design, and destroy all the progess they have made as a series. It's like you guys want mario and zelda to move back to 2d. Because RE4 was just as big of a leap as OOT or M64 were to those series' and just as important to gaming as a whole.

RE4 makes you sick? Give me a f'n break. I hate humanity.

 

Wtf man, old school resident evil is the best there is. I play every game genre there is, from fast paced to slow and i must say i like the old games a lot more. Great athmosphere on those, and the slow moment makes you more vulnerable and that my friend makes the tension much better. RE4 was good, played it through 5 times and it's one of the greatest games made. But to say it's better than the old? Hell no!
