So untrue. I play REmake once a year and I still love it to death. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the movement based on the way the character is looking to a general up=up controls and you have a perfect game that will score 8plus if done well. |
I think too
RE4 and RE4.5 are not really RE game (there are still good games)
Time to Work !
I agree. Playing RE0 recently and god I miss that style of gameplay. Sure I suck ass as it because its been a while but I'll get use to it.
RE4 was a good game but I could never understand how people praise the shit out of it. I played RE4 Wii the best version out there and I wasnt as blown away as most people are. I like dont get me wrong but Id takes classic over that anyday.

The problem here is that the movement limitations in the original game were intentional - one of the primary signifying facets of horror games is limitations on how one can affect the game world. Resident Evil did this beautifully back when it came out.
They would need to reconsider their approach to horror altogether, nowadays.
I don't think action-y controls change weather a game is survival horror or not. What changes it is the pacing and how the game is structured. Anyone bothered with Dead Space? Last I checked, it was one of the scariest games out there, and had a Gears of War control style.
What I'd want is pretty simple: Make it really, REALLY scary again. You don't need camera angles to be scary. You need a creepy location, scarce ammo, few but deadly zombies, and throwing you into suspense as to weather or not the next corner is gonna have a safe spot, or a killer zombie. You can make it co-op. That doesn't change the scary nature (how many scary movies have more than 1 person in a scary scene? It happens).
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
@mrstickball
the questions isn't whether its survival horror or not....thats not what they should ask themself
AS IT IS survival horror
that was the FOUNDATION of the franchise
tomorrow if MGS5.....had no stealth & was set in some rainbow fairyland we'd be HORRIFIED....
thats what Capcom did when they released RE4.....thank god RE5's mild reviews will maybe make them change their grave grave decisions which led the Franchises DESTRUCTION in Japan
I don't consider 86% a 'mild' review. That's better than 90% of the games out there.
What makes survival horror? I do think they need to make the games scarier, but I don't think you have to revert to RE1 tank controls to achieve that effect.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I agree. I'm not a big fan of the direction Resi is taking. Why couldn't they have made Resi 4 & 5 in a different universe and call it something else that way we could all be happy. Please Capcom don't neglect the single player experiance that everyone else seems to be doing.
