Forums - Gaming - Deus Ex 3????

Deus Ex was a triumph of gaming. It is right up there with the mario's and zelda's as far as I'm concerned.

whatever you think ^^

As time goes by I think you've drunk too much today ^^

Show us even one original PC game serie that was simpler on PC and is more complicated on consoles. There is numerous games other way around. Deus Ex, Thief, Rainbow Six, Elderscrolls, System Shock, Fallout...

( Btw, Oblivion is nice example of crappyness of console controls when it comes for anything more compicated than pressing button more than once. )

I guess with "complicated" you mean "more complex" and with "simpler" "dumbed down".

Well I don't know why I would have to list a former original PC series, which is now better on consoles. Doesn't make that much sense to me.

Ok then, list me a series which was originally on he PC that is at least equally as good now on the consoles.

I don't know why I would do that. In the end you'll still bitch about them. I have a few in my mind, but you won't accept them anyways.

Yeah, its way too late already here and I am watching old Bond film while answering these threads. Anyway, didn't you doubt that games aren't dumbed down for consoles? Theres lots of examples of dumbing down, but not the opposite. So wheres your examples of games not being dumbed down for consoles? :)

(Oh, I got one more Command & Conquer series... :) )

Because your question didn't make much sense.

Well yeah they're surely some examples of games which were dumbed down on consoles, while some games you've named aren't.

What about Call of Duty 4 ? It has the same gameplay mechanics as Call of Duty 1

And please don't say it's dumbed down because of it's controls. That's a lame excuse for those who can't play with a controller just because it requires more skill.

You don't have to. I stopped taking you serious a long time ago.

To be more exactly: It requires more skill for a console gamer to reach the average skill of a PC gamer.

That just means that the control scheme is fucked up than anything else. And following that logic it would be impossible for any console gamer to reach the skill level of the pros on the PC. Which is, interestingly, very true.

I hope it will be released also on PC and that it 'll be a masterpiece like the first one, not lobotomized like the sequel.
Deus Ex is one of my favourite games of all times.

Next time google for "dumbed down" + games name before assuming anything. :)

Online mode was superb, although dumbed down in CoD2 (yep, for you console peeps). However, I'll be getting the Wii version as everyone will have to learn a whole new skillset for online play. All this minigame, button pressing nonsense is just a pain in the backside in a 3D shooter, it tends to ruin the flow of play.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=148940

And what games haven't been dumbed down, which I did mention? :)

Deus Ex

Well, this one you should know already...

Thief

No more free entering into building from any direction you see good to aproach from, no more rope arrows, very limited areas, minigames etc.

Rainbow Six

Did you know that rainbow six had tactical map you could use to plan your attacks and main characters weren't super humans etc. This is what I am talking about:

, but because it had to be fitted for console audience its now just another stupid linear shooter.

Elderscrolls

Oblivion and incredible allknowing compass, stupid equipment system that takes away the whole spirit from the game etc. Did you know that for example glass armor should be very rare in world of elderscrolls, how it is in Oblivion? Uh, and those menus.

System Shock

Bioshock... Uh, oh... No more items system. Funny little minigames(!!). Argh...

Fallout

Minigames, souless world compared to originals, karma system(is a bitch), TBS -> FPS transition...

As a bonus see civilization on consoles and on PC.

Ninja spys(o.O), civ revolution... Lets make it extra easy that console players can enjoy it. Uh oh... Fortunately thats not coming on PC.

Btw, how many years have you played games? 23 gaming years here and 9 years indie game developing. I am also predicting that next step will be making most of games even more simple. Thats the level when casuals can also enjoy them. See what nintendo is doing and well all bigger publishers.

(One more, supreme commander... Fortunately that was first on PC too. ;) )

Something about controls,

http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=1667

Well, lets mention something about genres too.

- WRpg on consoles are nothing more than fps games with very simple rpg elements.

- Where are all strategy games on HD consoles?

And last question:

Can you show me even one game on HD consoles that require more thinking than average 10-years old can do? :)

@vlad321

That shows your ignorance again. First sentence is a fanboy comment, second sentence is obviously true.

@Deneidez

Sry but you simply fail, when you bring up CoD 3 while I'm talking about CoD and CoD4. There is just no excuse.

About those games:
I wouldn't count Bioshock because it's not a true sequel, spin-off whatever (EA owns the System Shock IP) - Still debatable.
Fallout 3 was influenced by Bethesda and has not much to do with the previous games, so of course they made it similar to Oblivion.

I'm playing games for 13-14 years. Should I mention that I don't like most indie games ?

For you I'll repeat myself in regards of controls in FPS: "It requires more skill for a console gamer to reach the average skill of a PC gamer."
That everybody with a mouse can beat everybody with a controller is bogus.

EDIT: I don't know why you're always bitching about Oblivion.

The average strategy game died a long time ago. Everything changes, that's the same reason why Point & Click Adventures became niche games. And guess what - I'm glad about it. P&C Adventures were cool a long time ago when you couldn't make complex open worlds and tell epic storylines.
