Wtf, what about Pikmin 3.
| theprof00 said: all I'm saying is that they should be doing more for old fans than kid ic and ice climbers.... wiiware? The games I've seen so far don't even compare to classic NES, but then again that's hard for any company to do, but still |
Isn't that what Punch-Out!!! and Sin and Punishment are for? They're certainly not aimed at neophytes (especially Punch-Out, which was last released midway through the SNES' lifetime).
More to the point, the best of their old games are still around, they've just evolved to meet modern times. Every series from the NES era has done this (have you seen the new Bionic Commando, for instance?). If they didn't, they'd have long since become old hat.
Granted, there is one exception to this rule, and it WAS awesome...
I just don't think production is up to what their past consoles have done.

quantity, the quality is there
as a gamer i blow through about a game a week, and I also play wow. 5 or 6 games a year isn't enough

Then you'd have a point if we're measuring things in terms of the NES or SNES, but I remember the Gamecube and ESPECIALLY the N64 days, and I have to say that their production compared to those eras is nothing short of astounding.
It's been two and a half years, and according to this site they've already released 40 titles (it'll be 42 by Mid-May). Realistically it's only 35, since five of those are New Play Control.
By contrast, over SIX years for the Gamecube, they released 61 titles.
So we're looking at them doing over half the releases in less than half the time. The contrast with the N64 is even more stark.
Nah, the quantity's there. The problem, I think, is just one of perception: they released a crapload of stuff in the first year and a half or so, and so they've spent the past year recharging.
Although I think we're in agreement that that dry spell needs to end soon.
well, take into account quality and quantity, because a bunch of those are mini-game compilations

Fully granted, but that's true of their previous systems too.
For instance, the Gamecube had four versions of Mario Party released for it (4-7) as well as a Wario Ware game, two Donkey Konga games, and the Nintendo Puzzle Collection (which I believe was just rehashes of past games).
It also had really crappy games like Doshin (assuming Rol's right about that one), Geist, Wario World, etc. etc.
true that lol.
I just wish they made those mario party games faster, they totally go against casual gaming cuz it takes like 15 seconds to change characters, and they do it purposely GARH!
Also though don't forget that those consoles were in last place too. snes and nes were first place and their library dwarfs wiis
