My kids subscribe to Nintendo Power. They each have a Wii. They both had an Advance SP. They both had a grey DS. My son had a Mario edition DS, and recently they both got DS Lites. Of course you can imagine the stack of games that we have accumulated over the years going back to our Gamecube days. We have been loyal Nintendo customers for years, with literaly thousands of dollars vested. So far, we have been pretty lucky with our Nintendo products. We had to send my sons Wii back in when he got Brawl, due to an issue with the laser not being able to read duel layer disks, and my daughters DS died, but other than that, I have had only a few problems. Just after Christmas, my sons DSlite had an issue with the top screen going black. It just went black and stays that way. I figured since I register all our stuff, that I would just call them up, and get it fixed no problem. Well there was a problem. Our warantee had expired two weeks prior. He gladly informed me that I could send it in and get it fixed but we would be getting charged 89 dollars to do it. I told him that we were great customers, and that some customer loyalty would be appreciated. If he wanted he could look up all the hardware that we have registered, and see that we deserved some kind of break. I was put on hold.... for a long time. I assumed he was marveling at our extensive collection of Nintendo stuff, and had passed out from amazement, but eventually he got back on the line with me and told me that I would receive no such quarter. I was offered a replacement DSLite. I can't recall how much but I believe he said 100 dollars. I probably would have went ahead and did that, if the new DSs weren't already coming out, but I am having second thoughts as to whether buy one at all. I realize that I am being somewhat unreasonable, but I feel as though I have been wronged and that Nintendo is going to lose some business because of it.
